Trade it for a future first or something. Restock the cupboards of trade assets. No more draft picks.

Why exactly? We are going to have to draft our talent. If it’s not there this draft, that’s fine, but the #23 pick isn’t a strong bargaining chip.

We need to start a project on developing a dynamic wing and draft is how you get those wing prospects. Since we certainly won't be able to afford any of the grown wings such as OG and Jerami Grant with the money that we have right now.

Unless there is already a wing prospect that our FO really like, Doumbouya for example, then maybe we can move the pick.

All I have heard on this board about draft picks is "waaaaah. We traded our picks in the conley deal... waaaah".

And now I hear "let's trade our draft pick for... wait for it folks... yup, you heard it... "for a FUTURE draft pick or something". We are in the presence if wisdom folks.

Well, they traded two picks for starters. And I think one of the big points/frustrations is we haven’t had any picks to use in a mid-season trade, so this is a chance to nab a pick that we could use in a mid-season deal.

Trading #23 for a 2021 1st that is likely to be better could be very wise. Why?

- this isn't considered a strong draft

- we don't have a 2021 1st

- due to COVID, scouting is tough this year

- we save $2.3 million if we don't have to pay #23, and we might need that cap space to re-sign Clarkson and stay under the luxury

If we trade it, I would rather trade it for a current player.

#23 won't get us a 2021 1st. Teams aren't idiots. They will only trade their future first for this year's top pick.

#23 for a current player works but we can also just use the pick to select a current player. We desperately need depth on this team so passing up an opportunity to expand our bench just so we can create the cap space to resign Clarkson doesn't seem an ideal move.

Jazz will explore trading it. There might be opportunities to trade up in this draft or make a package for a player like Bogdan Bogdanovic.

There are some interesting players who could be available at #23 though. Tyrell Terry, Josh Green, Theo Maledon, Leandro Bolmaro and maybe Paul Reed could be worth drafting. Even as purely trade assets, those players could have more perceived value than a relatively late 1st-round pick.

Jazz could also trade back and possibly get two players like Zeke Nnaji, Elijah Hughes and Paul Reed. Jazz are going to need cost-controlled rotation players.

I think there might be some young players available for virtually nothing. The Pels, Indiana, the Bulls and Nets have all made coaching changes. The new coaches might view some younger players as non-prospects and move them.

Don't worry, when the playoffs started all I heard was how wrong I was about Royce and his contributions relative to his contract. Fast forward about a week and posters are coming out of the woodwork saying he is overpaid based on his production and we need an upgrade cause he's not a starter, etc. Some of these people are even the same ones who originally called me out.

No worries though, because as we know, Pepperidge Farms always remembers.

There are some players I like where we are, there are also a chance of a intriguing prospect slipping. You never really know. Will we make the right choice is another question obviously.

i don't mind if the project doesn't pan out. but the Jazz gotta start a project on the wing.

Take a guy with the highest physical upside and let Quin groom him to the rotation.

Siakam was a #27 pick. OG was taken at #23. Jimmy Butler #30. Jerami Grant #39. Crowder #34. Draymond #35. PJ Tucker #35. Will Barton #40. Josh Richardson#40. Covington was undrafted.

It's almost a guarantee that some solid wing prospects will be available at #23 or lower every year. Just a matter of finding them. But you can be 100% certain that we won't find that player if we just trade the pick. You can't win if you don't play.
