What's new

We need some general rules for posters who routinely engage in “bad faith” discussion tactics.

I don’t block people, for clarity sorry, but just don’t read these topics in question most of the time. Please report what you have concerns with though so we can read them and act. We will.

Report his posts. I've got him blocked so I don't see them unless people bring them to my attention.
i've reported 3 or 4 of his posts for this. I have him blocked also, I mostly just see people responding to the allegation that they're pedophiles.
When He implied I was a pedophile and/or supportive of pedophiles I reported him.

When he made a personal attack on my character that was entirely unrelated to the posts he was responding to I reported him.

@colton, @Jason

I’ve long wondered how effective moderation can be done when moderators are able to ignore people. Doesn’t make much sense. In the last 6 or so months, not only has it allowed some stuff to happen that feels like a person stepping out-of-bounds, but I think it’s also allowed behavior that is more bot-like—if not actual bots themselves. How are you guys adjusting to the new realities of bots? That specific question is why I started this thread. No chimes from any moderator so far.
I only have three people blocked and none are bots. We block bots pretty much immediately, as far as I know.

Keep doing that.

I think Political Jazz Fan’s career might demonstrate something challenge your filters or definitions of a bot. FWIW.

I agree with this because often the issue is how disruptive someone is the to discourse on the site and that can only really be determined by seeing that discourse, and it isn't necessarily captured in a few posts bad enough to get reported here and there.

I’m gonna @Jason and @colton just to make extra sure that this post gets noticed.

I understand that and agree. Even a post here and there represents a trend that we typically take action on as needed. Just report them with context and we will take action when appropriate. There are many times we get various reports that we go back and look at the whole scenario and combine into warnings as a result even though a given post may not be necessarily egregious.
