I agree. That being said, we need to take the mid-term elections more seriously as a country (me included). The local councilmen become state senators. The State senators become US legislators and governors. Those guys become Presidents. Change happens locally. If we voted for "our guy" in the mid term elections, they could ifluence politics more and more. Bernie is an independent and he weilds a lot of power because a small state voted him in as a mayor.This is the biggest issue with our system imo. We will never get politicians that are working for the people and the greater good of the country under the two party system. I see no way out though.
The more important elections are the local ones. Like you've said, once we get to President, it's too late. It's not left vs right, it's top vs bottom. But the local elections, we can get whoever we want in there. In Seattle, they have a full blown socialist on their council. Primaries and local elections is where change happens.
