What Will Republicans Do To Heal The Country?

The Thriller

Well-Known Member
I’m opening this up because the narrative soon will be blaming “both sides” for the gridlock in DC. We will hear nonstop about “listen into the Trump voter” even though when has a trump voter been forced to hear the concerns of a black woman living in the city? For those who demand the left “compromise” to work with the right... Biden’s arm has been extended for quite some time. The result? 6 house Republicans and 1 Senate Republican have congratulated him yet. That’s it.

Not one ****ing Republican leader has congratulated him. Kevin McCarthy the house minority leader? Nothing. Moscow Mitch? Nothing. Trump, refuses to concede. The top Fox News hosts? Spinning conspiracy. Look at Hannity’s twitter feed.

Please remember, within 12 hours of losing, Hillary Clinton offered a concession speech and all Democratic leaders congratulated Donald. No major news outlet accused Trump of committing voter fraud. Donald offered no healing speech. Should I remind you of his “American Carnage” inauguration speech?

So keep this in mind in the next few weeks and months when the media blames “both sides” for not compromising. One party still believes in democracy. The other party is just a selfish piece of **** that just wants to obstruct any and all progress in America.

The race is over and Republicans still refuse to congratulate President Elect Biden. Disgusting.

What will Republicans do to heal the country? What will they do to listen to the majority? What will they do to make America great?

During Biden’s speech:

And what are they arguing? They are saying that votes cast by American citizens should be thrown out. Because those people did something wrong? Nope. Because they think there is an essentially meaningless technicality that has been violated. They have been lean AF about providing any real meat to their arguments, **** they have been lean AF about putting together the bones of their argument.

Bottom line is that they don't want the votes of American citizens to be counted. That's what they're fighting for.

Literally the only thing I've heard with any actual "data" is 6,000 votes in Michigan went to Biden instead of Trump do to some technical glitch. No idea if it's true or not but at least they attempted to give some evidence.

Forreal. If they have some substance I want that.

This is exactly what I’m talking about

What a completely irresponsible thing to say. He doesn’t have any evidence of this. He’s just pouring gasoline onto the fire. This further poisons our public discourse end widens the gap between Republicans and Democrats.

Half the electorate is addicted to this hellish network.

Again, Republicans and Fox News in particular, can do a lot to turn down the temperature on the rhetoric and heal our country. It can’t just be on Democrats. Throwing out George Soros conspiracies and a stolen election doesn’t help.

The Grand Ol Party of False Oppositions.

The only way the axes for this kind of political opposition and brinksmanship shifts is if the political map is literally changed. Ways to do that: undo the undemocratic gerrymandering jammed through by republican leaders across the country; grant statehood to DC and Puerto Rico. Both of these things expand representation in all the supposedly hallowed American ways. And they would put this kind of **** on its back foot.

Yet another example of Republicans lowering the temperature to heal the nation...

Democrats can’t heal the nation alone.

Same question, what are Republicans doing to heal the country?

When will they listen to the people who have won the popular vote 7 of 8 of the last times?

Who thinks this helps?

When the media tries to “both sides” things again, think about this. Hillary Clinton conceded to Donald Trump within 24 hrs of the election.

“Both sides” sides clearly aren’t the same.

Good on Rogan for calling out her BS.

"The perpetrator of the Christchurch mosque shootings produced a manifesto in which he wrote that Owens had "influenced him above all".[87][88][89] According to journalist Robert Evans, it was "possible, even likely" that the shooter was a fan of Owens, considering her rhetoric against Muslim immigrants, but in context the terrorist's references to her may have been an example of "shitposting" intended to provoke political conflict.[90][91] For instance, the line "Though I will have to disavow some of [Owens'] beliefs, the extreme actions she calls for are too much, even for my tastes" was assessed by The Root as trolling.[92]

Hours after the shootings, Owens posted a tweet in reaction to allegations that she inspired the mass murder, saying that she never created any content espousing her views on the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution or Islam.[93] However, her tweet was criticized as "glib" when it was reported that she actually had posted tweets about the 2nd Amendment and Islam.[94][95][96][73] She later made formal statements rejecting any connection to the shooter.[73]

I think Candice Owens does okay there. It's not a hill she'd die on, but she was pressed to die on it anyway. I'm not a Candice Owens fan, by any means. I just don't think this is a "hey look at this stupid idiot say stupid idiot things, har har har" moment. She handles herself pretty well overall.

I agree with all 5 points that The Guardian makes here. But I think we need to talk about right wing propaganda. It has convinced half the electorate to vote against their own interests to enrich people like Donald Trump, Charles Koch, Rupert Murdoch, and Bob Mercer.

bUt SoCiAlIsM! Imagine how much worse getting food would be in a socialist country! /s

Trump and his enablers, esp. in the media, have convinced half the electorate that Biden’s presidency will be illegitimate. Trump could have given his followers “permission” to accept the election results. Instead, he is doing incalculable damage. It’s very hard to see how we overcome this damage. With nearly 72 million votes, and a base that can stage demonstrations such as that which took place Saturday in Washington, Republicans will not be inclined to ignore Trump. It will be hard to diminish his influence at this point. Any prosecution from NY he will weave into his “Deep State” narrative. The alternate reality he has created will be very difficult to eliminate. And I don’t know how, in the near term, Republicans can extricate themselves from that very narrative.
