We are in for a rough 11 weeks as Trump's minions begin to fall in line spreading false claims of rampant election fraud. It was his backup plan all along and here we are. The question whether Trump would attempt to instigate a civil war in order to hold on to power has now been answered. Based on my FB feed there are plenty of individuals so brainwashed by Trump they are ready to bear arms.

I dislike using "coup" non-metaphorically for legal shenanigans. A coup is when the military decides who is leading the country, and that is not happening.

I bet Trump would use the military if he thought he could. Do you think he wouldn't?

Most disturbingly, however, the timing of this dismissal raises serious questions about Trump’s planned actions for the final days of his Administration," her statement continued.

Once again we can thank McConnell for putting a significant amount of Party Power behind all of this. Trump would be reduced to the marginal, lame-duck levels of power were it not for Barr and McConnell.

Im certainly watching what will happen with Esper’s replacement with the keenest of interests.

And I hope Americans watch closely... and that the Republican Party takes a huge ****ing hit as a result off all this ********.

While I think it is possible Trump would use the military, he isn't right now, so it is still not a coup (except metaphorically).

Frankly, I think many/most of Trump's supporters would also support a coup, were one to happen. Our real protection here is the military's command structure.

How would that work in real life, specially in USA? Doesn't most of the generals and other high ranking persons have wives at home, who might get pissed for that kind of shenanigans?
My wife would write a pretty LONG letter to me (when she is angry, she usually will wrote a long letter for the person who is guilty).
i seriously doubt that a high ranking navy admiral would open fire against the civilians, even if ordered by Trump or any other POTUS. I have never understood the benefit for the military to organise a coup? Does it automatically guarantees the best cars, best vacations for family or even better housing, specially for ordinary army members.

I don’t disagree.

I’ve made my peace with the ******** that’s sure to happen between now and January by establishing some hope that it’ll peel off more support for the Republican Party that’s ultimately responsible.

My point was, that nowadays in USA it is quite unrealistic, that US army attacks its citzens should the POTUS want it. Because, well, the army members most of the time want to have good time in their homeland. It is IMHO only possible should the US outsources all its army services from China. You do not have wife at home :)? If not yet, then you might find it our in a hard way what happens should you do something not approved by wife :) ? Or do you really believe that if a POTUS says - lets carpet bomb the region where my opponents live - that it will happen in real life? In USA?

One reason, a key reason I think, that McConnell is not undermining Trump’s claims, is to keep the Republican base in Georgia fired up for the Georgia runoffs. McConnell wants to continue to be majority leader, and he wants to win the turnout battle in Georgia. I just read that 70% of Republicans believe we did not have a fair election.

What's really funny is downballot nominees for seats are now doing the same thing. Kid you not, some of these guys lost by 70 points but are screaming that the voting is rigged.
 
If Democrats are so good at rigging the vote, why did they suck so much at losing seats in the house and giving away the senate? McConnell and Co. can't say that the nation has spoken in regards to these yet that the presidency is a fraud.

These idiots don't seem to mind the votes that go there way, but god forbid that the ones that don't are fraud.
