I mean setting up goals is nice. But it only means something when you actually achieve them. And when you do, quickly move on to your next objective, instead of, you know, double down or even triple down on the task that you've already achieved.
The 'goal' was to put the team together exactly as it is. re-sign JC, get Faves back, and max out Mitchell. I would hope they fought against the PO's and just had to take the L there. But the roster looks exactly how they wanted it to. So that goal was achieved. Now we need to see if it was a good goal to have.

Like I said, if this roster is exactly how they want it to be it's not good management. Any basketball fans can quickly name you five things that is wrong with this current roster. Let alone expert analytics and our playoff opponents.

I certainly would have made some different moves. But we simply don't know how it will play out yet.

The 'magic' is just Conley's shot not going in against Denver. Now everyone loves the Nuggets they are considered the second best west team. Could have just as easily gone our way. Those are the margins we are working with, probably don't want to make definitive statements about how this this team was built or what it will do at this point.

I’d feel fine if we had the Favs signing and udoka pick if I thought DL would move Favs if Dok was ready early. Problem is that would require Favs to have trade value... which he does if he’s healthy and playing well. Do you see DL having the stones to move Favs in that scenario? Didn’t even have the stones to let his coach bench 10 time all start Mountain Mike Effing Conley.

Fact is it’s just a goofy offseason strategy. It delays judgement on how the first rounder is working out... because he could be Frickin awesome and still won’t sniff the court.

Next year, it is extremely possible that we are going to have $50 million invested in 3 players who can only play C in the playoffs (Rudy, Favors and Udoka).

By comparison, the Lakers this year will have less than $5 million invested in players who can only play C.

I was as outspoken as anyone against the pick.

But I do find it odd to say 'Terrible pick, he was going to be a second rounder!'. While also saying "How could we possibly bury our FIRST ROUND pick on the depth chart??" You guys do know the success rate of late round picks right? Not really a negative to not be heavily relying on the 27th pick in his rookie year.

I think if Dok is that good he will surface. Rudy did. I remember when we drafted him. He worked his way into the rotation same way Dok can. I am pleased with this off season except I still think we are gonna get burned on the perimeter by stars like Murray and Dame because they failed to address perimeter D. The jazz could’ve addressed both needs and chose to focus on just one. SMH. KDunn turned out to be pretty cheap and is now in Atlanta so thanks utah. They said they couldn’t give him a role but they will give joe ingles and George’s Niang 40 min to split. I wish they would nut up a bit more. Im still hoping they make a trade with Conley.

Ryan Smith has been making HORRENDOUS decisions. He has said he loved Favors and wanted to strengthen the backup 5 spot. The GM's should have fought him hard on this draft/free agency, I agree.

What is a list of people Dennis Lindsey hasn't thought of for $200.

Intriguing names include RHJ, DMC, Roberson, GRIII, Shaq, Frank Jackson.

Any of those guys would be better than what we're doing with the end of the bench.

Better question: who of all those players is NWG better than?

Not sure if it will work, but I’m intrigued with Favors coming back. His off/on court numbers have to be some of the best in the nba for his price point... and it’s shown true across two different teams now.

Favors / Gobert combo wasn’t the issue, it was when another non-shooter was added to the mix. We’ve added three shooters to the team since the combo was attempted...

That's not going to happen. You'd have to be blind to not see that we are planning on trading Rudy. We won't go down the same route we did with Hayward. Faves replaces some of what Rudy gives us and Udoka is some insurance. The question is who are we going to get for Rudy and who can we add with his salary?

The problem is that it is both.

There is a big difference with guys who are only centers... you flat out can’t play two at a time. PGs are similar but you can get away with double pg lineups.

You want to see a path to playing time if the rookie is ready. Most aren’t as you noticed. BUT if you take a wing and they surprise you it is easy to get time. They need that 8 minutes a night to prep them for a real role in year 2. But the thing with wings is you can play 3-4 of them at a time. Assuming full health and Miye being ready they don’t have a to. Of playing time but if one of Don, Royce, Joe, Mike, Miye, Bojan or JC get hurt there would be available wing minutes... that’s 7 guys. If Rudy or Favs gets hurt there are some minutes for Udoka.

We also have a bigger need on the wing and will have guys leaving is the next two years that we need to replace... perfect time to bring in a wing. We didn’t sign a wing to play over Miye... even more reason to draft a wing to not rock the pecking order.

it’s just weird to say all offseason we want to improve our defense while not compromising floor spacing and emphasize bringing in true bigs.

I really like signing Favs... he’s great and will settle the Locker room a bit. He had a great connection with Don and Rudy. It’s the pick that kills me... when you knew you were getting Favs(and they knew... there were smoke signals early and often).

I somewhat agree with you, but our FO and culture is very stubborn. We rarely, if ever, risk anything. I don't think they will trade Rudy. That's too aggressive. Too bold. They will rationalize spending into the luxury easier than trading Rudy away.
