2020 Free Agency Thread

I'd rather let Rudy walk then take on Collins for his next contract.
just so we can make Azubuike our next Rudy, play that same old drop big defensive scheme, then bound for early playoff exits the next ten years?

Collins average 20+10, shoots 40% from deep and protects the paint with 1.6 blocks a game, every skill you'd desire in a modern day big, Collins has it. When everyone is crying for positional/strategical flexibility, you'd just prefer us to stand pat and expect everyone else to catch up with you back to the 90's?

I really like Collins as well. I've been saying we should get him because he's got so much potential and is best friends with Donovan. If we trade Rudy for him, so be it. lol

i'd still monitor the Collins extension situation. If Rudy demands the supermax, we should prioritize a sign and trade deal for Collins
Collins would be an amazing addition for us especially with the additions of Favors and Udoka. We could have a very dynamic center rotation with Collins' all purpose play, Favors' excellent defense/rebounding and Udoka's rim protection.

Wow. Bogdan 4 years 72 mil....

At what point does Jordan Clarkson throw his agent's Christmas present in the ****ing garbage?

Just skim read Tony Jones article for today... we are done with signings. NWG will make the roster and we will have an empty roster spot going into the season. Which is fine... can sign a guy or do a 1 for 2 trade.

Id almost rather just cut NWG and have two roster spots open. Takes us further from the tax.

whatevs I guess... but I would not expect any additions. Mission accomplished I guess.

I read it as well and he said if nothing happens by tonight.

He didnt mention anything about Tucker either. They would have to cut him. Tony said they may go into the season with the open spot, wasnt a definitive statement.

Agree. The tone just seemed like they aren’t looking at other guys right now and it sounded like NWG was in the plans... I assume the only other news we will heard about is an extension or nonextension of Rudy. If the young guys look like trash in training camp we will go get someone (I think). They also may way for roster cuts like the Ingles year.

I think he just singled out NWG specifically and not Tucker because on paper the backup PG position is more of a need.

From ESPN Insider (but taken from a public site). Question is, outside of Giannis, what is the thing you are monitoring the most?

Tim Bontemps: What happens with Rudy Gobert in Utah. It has been a good offseason for the Jazz, between reaching a deal with Jordan Clarkson, bringing back old friend Derrick Favors and securing Donovan Mitchell with a max contract extension. But with Gobert one year from unrestricted free agency, the final piece of Utah’s offseason will be trying to get Gobert signed to a contract extension to keep him with the franchise long-term. If they can’t reach an agreement, Gobert will become an intriguing trade target.

How many of us argued that it was standard protocol and the gentlemanly thing to do to give a TPE back when Hayward left, but everyone said that was silly and that you never help the competition. Karma fails us again.
Someone should step in and offer a second so they don’t do a sign and trade. Danny is a douche and is reaping what he sowed. Heard Bill Simmons talking about losing Al, Kyrie and Hayward for nothing and said that the way Danny treats players (like assets) factored into those guys not staying.

Hopefully they have to give something good for the sign and trade.

I’m more worried about what happens to you when he signs his extension... tongue in cheek of course.

I actually hope this blows up in their face, maybe Charlotte finds something else in the meantime (would be cool if AD signed there), and then Hayward is SOL and has to take that Cleveland MLE.
