SUCK4LUCK... SUCK4LUCK

You know its a conspiracy.. the Colts will get Luck ala Tim Duncan and the Spurs.

I don't have anything against the Colts, but I would despise them should they land the #1 pick. It's not cool that they get the 2 best QB prospects of the last 30 years. It's like divorcing Kate Beckinsale and marrying a women who's beauty is equal to or greater than the previously mentioned Ms. Beckinsale.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be pissed if Miami misses out on him, but if they do I'd rather see Minnesota grab him. At least that gets him in the NFC. If Miami misses out on Luck, I'm hoping Matt Barkley or Landry Jones turn out to be a nice consolation prize.

I'm not sure I'd say that Peyton Manning was one of the two best QB prospects of the past 30 years, since there was a real question that year if he was even the best QB of his draft class. Plus John Elway is/was the best prospect of the past 30 years.

What would you rather have?

Luck

Or

someone in another position and 2 or 3 1st round draft picks?

I think it all depends on where your team is. Everyone knows the QB position is the most important on the field as they touch the ball every play but if I am lets say a team like the Rams and get the 1st pick then I trade down and stick with what I have. Or even if I am a team that doesn't have a QB (Cassell, McCoy, Henne, ect) then I trade down, get Kellen Moore, Landry Jones, Matt Barkley and a few 1st round draft picks to improve my team all the way around.

I guess here is a legit question

Would you rather have :

Andrew Luck

OR

Kellen Moore/Matt Barkley/Landry Jones (Whichever you think is the best) and Justin Blackmon?

What team did Elway refuse to sign with again?

Agree on Elway, agree to disagree on Manning. While there was some talk about him versus Leaf, Bill Polian will tell you that while the Colts did their due diligence on both players (as they should have), they decided on Manning rather early. Just because that didn't come out at the time was more about the Colts keeping everything internal so they had all of their options in regards to possible trades, etc. No need to tip your hand when you don't have to.

I think that Ryan Leaf had the measurments that would at least force you to look into him if you were a GM with the #1 pick, however I think each and every GM at the time would have ended up selecting Manning over Leaf.

With that being said, most of Manning's draft stock came from his pedigree and football smarts more than anything else. That's why I'm more inclined to put Luck in the Elway category. His physical talents are off the charts, plus he seems to have the cerebral part of it down as well.

It's not really a disagreement. The only knock on Manning was that he couldn't beat Florida and was a proven commodity. I remember wishing the Rams would have tanked the season to get Manning.

To me there are many 'options' at QB and if I had the 1st pick I would STRONGLY consider trading if someone offered me a package that I couldn't resist. Give me your 1st round pick for the next 3 years along with a few 2nd's and I trade down and draft Moore or Jones.
