What's new

Dante Exum to the Rockets

MVP is misleading.

Igoudala got one too. The GS system and culture made KD a champion. Outside of that culture, he hasn't accomplished much. Sure he has won a couple series and scored a bunch of points, but he hasn't truly led a team. This Nets team will be a true test of his legacy.

When it's all said and done, KD will win less titles than LeBron yet will have played with much much better talent along the way.

This is loud wrong.

OMG!! He really let himself go.

Not a chance, you’re just remembering that one good game he had. He barely played after that with a ton of DNP’s
He's on his way to Oliver Miller fat. Jesus dude gets paid 40mil a year to bitch, go to strip joints and be a fat bastard. Where can i get that job? Im possibly overqualified for it!

KD was the best player on the GS team. However, it was still Curry's team. KD has needed that GS "roster better than everybody else" advantage in order to win a title. Even then, he was a punk in the lockerroom and upset. I can't stand Draymond, but he was right. KD needed GS to win. And GS has always been led by Curry.

Nance I don't know if we need his services.

We are 3rd just behind clips. If we shoot well we can be higher. There's only 1 opponent I'm looking forward to, the Lakers.
And the Lakers should be on the top of the list of reasons as to why you need Nance, as are the Bucks, the Nets, New Orleans, Toronto, etc.

Okay but you make it out like he rode stephs coat tails when in the playoffs it was completely the opposite. You said he never did much outside of the GS culture other than score a bunch of points and win a couple playoff series. He won an mvp, went to the finals, and almost beat GS in the western conference finals the year before... he did that with Russell Westbrook who is good but also an anchor to carry at times. It’s a really terrible assessment of his pre-GS career.

if anyone has this job available I will be a character reference for @Rubashov ... he’s the best candidate for this job.

So the Nets... I'm not so sure having three ball dominant players is the way to go... especially since your defensive anchor is DeAndre Jordan who is looking more like an anchor than a defensive anchor these days. But at least they have an amazing locker room completely free of mercurial personalities.
I hope the Blazers cut Carmelo and the Nets sign him. It would make the least likable team in NBA history totally untouchable for the rest of history. Can you imagine?

KD didn't ride Steph's coattails but he did jump on a moving championship train. In the history of sports, there has never been a better player join a better team.

Some people act like KD is on the cusp of being a top 20 player all time. I just don't think he is. You brought up that KD won an MVP. Well, so did Russ who you went on to discount. Awards can be completely misleading. Jerry Sloan never won a Coach of the Year. Hell, Nick Saban has won 5 titles at Alabama before finally winning the coach of the year for this season.

KD is an awesome player, but I think his attitude is an issue. I think he is overrated. He was on the cusp of being an all time great when they were so close to taking down GS. The next year, he bolts and joins the team he choked at beating. I think this Nets experiment will end up badly. I never thought that KD and Kyrie would work. They have more firepower now, but I don't think this will work.

I've been saying we need Larry Nance Jr. for years.

I'd be willing to give up a first round pick for him. He has the same agent as Gordon Hayward and Joe Ingles.

But, I can see Nance fitting in very well with his skill set.

It's going to be interesting to see if Nash can rein Harden in a bit. Late for practices, missing film sessions, strip clubs the night before games and all the other antics that Harden has pulled. I'm curious how KD and especially Irving feel about those things. Maybe Harden will be a little more professional now he's got his wish.

Tbh, for that Warriors, I didn't think I saw much leadership from either Curry or Durant (or whatever else, maybe Kerr) on these teams at all. They were just great defensevely and an offensive outmatch for the entire league. Just naturally show up and smash everyone by default. With everybody healthy, they only needed 6 games to win a series once, and the leadership that got them through that one was the Chris Paul injury (which would be a big upset If you look at the fact that both Curry and Durant would be considered better players than both Paul and Harden, and It would end in 6).

He literally played his way into rotation there. Monster lines as rare as It should be for the rest of his career, but he actually were able to do better than sit to Emanuel Mudiay

Not that i expected him to return both Allen and Prince, and i'm not that a fan of both

Wait... KD was on the cusp of being an all time great before going to GS but he also didn’t do anything special pre-GS. Your original post was loud wrong... if you can’t see that.

Westbrook won an mvp in a season where he aggregated a lot of stats and lost in the first round. KD did and went to the conference finals that year. The goal for OKC became all about Westbrook... KD won it by trying to win the most games.

OKC only became all about Westbrook because KD tucked his tail and ran. And yes, KD was on the verge of something special if he had stayed and completed something with OKC. That was a more than capable roster with a more than willing GM to build. He left that team high and dry to get a ring, not really earn a ring.

Did you really not see all the backlash he received in the 3 years at GS? His legacy didn't get elevated nearly as much as many would think. When people look back on his career in 20 years, I think they will bash him more for joining GS than applaud him for winning 2 Finals MVP's (over really inferior talent at Cleveland I might add).

But at this point, I think it comes down to what he does with Brooklyn. He wanted Brooklyn. He wanted to be with Kyrie. He must want to play with Harden again. If it doesn't end up with at least a Finals trip, it proves my point.

Homie... you said he scored points and won a "couple" playoff series... you also said he was on the cusp of being an all time great. That is really inconsistent.

I saw his legacy take a little hit... maybe... but he won two titles and that is what people will remember. Lebron has 4 titles but people don't lose their **** about the two in Miami anymore. If he wins one in Brooklyn he gets them all validated imo.

That Cleveland team had the best or second best player ever... and also beat GS the year before KD joined... ain't KD's fault they weren't at full strength by the time of the finals. There was also plenty of western conference competition. They dominated but that was primarily because of KD.

He may have spotted his legacy a bit but saying he "had scored some points and won a couple playoff series" is crazy wrong. He won 10 playoff series prior to joining the Warriors... We will be lucky as hell if DM wins 6-7 over his entire Jazz career.

Cleveland squeaked by 73 win GS by the skin of their teeth. Barely, just barely beating them.

Now add KD. Forget that Cleveland had all sorts of injury issues in the 2 finals that GS had KD. Just imagine if KD had joined Cleveland instead of GS. Imagine that backlash.

I said he was about to be validated because both he and Russ were going into their prime and they were an upset of GS from being a finals team. Without KD, GS could have lost to OKC that next year. We'll never know because KD didn't have the stones to carry a team in his prime. He chose to use his prime to go to 73 win two time champion GS.

But you said it all with, "If he wins one in Brooklyn he gets them all validated imo." I agree.

I would too. As our window is now, and the difference in our future assets going from "kinda really bad" to "really bad" isn't really that much different, I'd say you're getting a lot more return for the cost. If you can get someone like Nance, it affords you being a legitimate contender and at least having a defensive option on guys that will stand in your way.
