Apparently it was very close to breaking... like they flat out do not have the money it was headed for. Like the plot from Ocean's 11 or 12... tomorrow the house comes down.
You can get in on it, but not with the easy to use platforms like Robin Hood. Do you have a Fidelity account? Do you have a Scottrade account? If so, one of those might work for you.

My wife did it for a little while. Funny (or sad) thing is, a few months ago she was trying to teach our 10 year old about it and told him to think of companies, he suggested Game Stop. She talked him out of it.
Honestly, without this freak happenstance movement, Game Stop was at that point where they turn the life support off. The business model doesn't make sense anymore. I don't need to go to a physical location so that I can buy a digital copy of a game.
