Another Murder by Police in Pasquotank County, North Carolina

Can you believe it? According to police, they had a search warrant for Andrew Brown's premises because of reports he was selling cocaine. But, later, it was revealed that body cam footage shown to the family revealed that Brown had his hands on his steering and never even saw the police preparing to shoot him. Nevertheless, they shot him in the back of the head. No, he never threatened them; he never even looked back at them. Nevertheless, they executed him.

I'm almost thankful that I can't view the link...due to being in Europe and it's blocked... I don't want to see another snuff film. That doesn't mean I'm not upset, revolted, disturbed, by this. The repeated nature of these incidents has to be traumatizing for anybody who is Black. It is past time for change.

I'm with you on the snuff film thing. I don't watch these videos. I have no desire to watch a human die.

To note - the current link doesn't contain the bodycam video as it hasn't been publicly released, only the family of the deceased has seen it so far (and only a very short 20 second clip). It's only an article.

I don’t care to watch disgusting videos. I do care about the story. What Actually happened? Are the facts known? I think it’s important to get all the angles first.

He was shot in the back of the ****ing head, is what happened. That's undisputed.

If the story so far is correct, police were serving a warrant for selling small amounts of drugs. He tried to drive away. Why do cops feel justified shooting someone who flees the scene? If I was black, my instinct would probably be to run from police with drawn guns as well. Just let him go and get him another time, or follow him and pick him up. It isn't worth killing him over, especially as he appears to have not been a threat to anyone.

Especially in today’s society where it’s so easy to track people with credit cards, cellphones, etc. it’s not the 1800s anymore. It’s hard to disappear.

The New York Times reported the police began firing when he started running them over.

The problem with this is that if it starts to become normal then every criminal will try to flee every time since the cops will just let you get away and try to catch you later.
There would be little incentive not to flee or resist.

Yet, in countries where police don't pull a gun so readily, they nonetheless catch criminals.

I'd like to know which crimes people flee the most from? Random traffic stops? Weed? Domestic violence disputes?

Maybe some of the most frequent crimes people flee from shouldn't be crimes anymore, like having a small bag of weed?

I mean, I'll wait for the bodycam evidence to be released. But yeah, this one seems fishy.
