Washed Players... It’s Time To Buy Low and Pray

Not washed but buy low on Devonte’ Graham. Dude’s young and a solid offensive player (37.5% from 3 on like 8 hits a game, 5.4 assists…7+ year before Ball arrived) who’s shaky on d and shaky shooting non 3’s. With real coaching for once, I think he could really improve on both ends.
I like Devonte Graham a lot, but he doesn’t really address any needs. Maybe as a Conley contingency plan? Move Bogey to Charlotte for Graham and someone else?

Yes, as a Conley contingency plan. I’m estimating our chances of returning-signing Mike at about 20%.

OPJ
Aminu
Harrison Barnes
Augustin
Avery Bradley
Batum-now low anymore but…
Gary Harris
Josh Jackson
Ibaka
Stanley Johnson
Winslow
Nance—IMO, with real coaching, could be an above average two way player. Athleticism is obvious, looks long, can rebound, hit the 3, his dad was a pro which tells me he’ll work.
Oladipo
Prince
Vonleh
Payton

Batum, Prince, Aminu are at the top of my list. Long 3’s/4’s who can shoot and defend many positions. Some of the others are tough because they’d have to be through a trade.

Oladipo is interesting because he’s not that old (just turned 29) and could be a monster payoff.
Aminu may be completely washed and that's everyone's concern... which means he could be very low cost and potentially very high reward. If he returned to any form he could be your small ball 5.

Devonte is a good player... I do think the hot shooting run he was on a year or so ago has him a little over-rated. Will be curious to see what kinda contract he gets.

Overrated? They moved him to the bench because of Ball. I’m not saying he’s wildly underrated but it’s under. Big markets aren’t wildly creative. They go for the big names. Like Kemba. He won’t be at the top of the list for Dallas or LA and if we’re talking Mike contingencies, he should be on our short list imo.

But I’ve made up my mind. The first two moves I’m trying to pull are Favors for a bag of chips and Nance for Bogey. These would save us ~17M next year, get us a lot younger, longer, versatile and more athletic, and allow us more options to make further moves. And oh yeah, it gives us a player who I think can quickly evolve into a very legit two way stretch 4.

Yeah I think some fans over-rate him based on his hot shooting to start the year two years ago. He was putting up bonkers numbers. He’s still a very good player but then you look at his shooting percentages and they don’t jive with what you’d think they should be. I think he’s an MLE type guy and I think most would put the consensus higher than that. I like him... just think he is the player his percentages say he is and not the player that couldn’t miss for a couple months.

That’s fair. I’m guessing he gets 3/33.

Outside of Favs I don't see great contract matching possibilities. I think he's a buyout guy potentially.
