Jazz Draft Jared Butler

Yeah yuge is a yuge stretch. This is more ok fine. I hope the guy can contribute right away as many seem to think. Apparently as per his tournament play it's a gigantic shocker he wasn't taken first.
Sounds like you just wanna dig your heals in to me but that's your right.

Before tonight the Jazz had dick for assets or talent in the coming years and now they have something to work with. I congratulate you if you never thought that was a big deal because that sounds like a nice reality to live in. I think they got a promising start to resolving a cataclysmic issue that's been brewing.

More Draft Night 2017 comparison:

Donovan didn't fit an obvious need, either. They had just gotten Rubio and Hayward was supposed to be the starting SG. Hood was still supposed to be a promising player and was assuredly ahead of Donovan on the depth chart. It's one of the reasons I felt meh about Donovan. Had we had tunnel vision about need, the Jazz would've drafted TJ Leaf or whoever it was they packaged Trey Lulz with to get Donovan.

At the end of the day, you need players that can play and you rarely find them at #30, let alone #40.

Go back even further to 2013. Jazz drafted Gobert at #27 when Kanter was going into year 2 and Favors into year 3. Butler has a chance to be that type of player where in a few years the rest of the NBA is sitting there saying "Maybe he shouldn't of slipped all the way into the 2nd round."

With any luck, Butler can be the guy everyone points to for 4-5 years to “trust the process” with JZ.

JZ saying the right things. Obviously saying those things doesn’t mean anything, but it always felt like DL would only say them in a very abstract way and not in any way that drew attention and at least some form of accountability for your reputation.

More in depth 1 on 1 video with him breaking down his film.

Doing a full watch through of this and Butler is going to THRIVE in the Jazz PnR offense. Can make defenders pay for going under screens and is always looking for open guys on the wings when there are over rotations.
