And if the person merging in front of you stops and you are looking backwards, you'll be at fault when you slam into them. Agree it is a poor practice and it causes many accidents.
If you mean the dual-left-turn lane, that's also what it's for, at least in Illinois.
Just git er done. Changing lanes/merging in Utah is a battle against tailgaters. Nearly a contact sport.
Yup. In Illinois, they tell us it's for left turns going onto the road as well as off of it.
Oh when you need it it's awesome. But people use it sometimes when they could just wait a few seconds and pull right into their lane.
That's the correct thing to do though. You're talking about a person pulling out of a parking lot or whatever onto a 5 lane road (2 per direction and a middle lane)? Yeah, that's the way you're supposed to do it.

Yep, thought I recognized it. Had a friend growing up that lived very close to there, over in the Hidden Valley neighborhood. I used to ride my bike from Bell Canyon Circle, where I lived, to his house. This was one of my routes, but that was early 90s.
Yes, during high traffic it can be necessary but during low traffic you can wait a few seconds for the road to be clear so as not to make everyone start hitting the brakes. I could go on and on about Utarded drivers, especially since I drive so much out of state and internationally and see how bad we have it here.
