What's new

Hmmmm you don’t say?

Its like me telling my wife she has broccoli in her teeth... needs to be done... but will be received in private much better than in front of all of her friends.
You mean like saying "Some people need to be aware of the broccoli in their teeth and clean it up, it's gross. But I am sure she will brush her teeth soon." on facebook isn't the best way?

At this point if choosing between both i'd say blow it up and don't miss on nearly all your top10 picks (only one to become a really good player being able to walk for nothing after only making asg in his 7th year) so all your rebuild is only about 2 (lucky) hits on lower picks that weren't even yours to begin with.

This... I'd love to believe that they are on the same page and that is why he liked it... but it is clearly both guys kinda going at each other.

Rudy specifically naming Booker is the tell to me about how he wanted this to hit. Its honesty, but there are times you don't have to be that honest with the media. Unless they win a title I think we are headed for a breakup this offseason... Ainge is probably planning accordingly.

Truth is, it doesn’t really matter how friendly they are to each other. Maybe when it comes Don’s long term future, but all that matters in the present is how they play on the court. We can be all buddy buddy but that doesn’t necessarily lead to better results.

I do have think the team needs another leader though. Mike doesn’t seem to be a super loud voice. All I can remember him saying is nothing at all. I’ve never been this type of guy, but I do think vocal leadership is lacking. You see the impact that CP3 has everywhere he goes.

They’d never do it but that’s the path I’d go too. I’d blow it all the way up and rebuild… they’d almost certainly pick Donovan and they’d pivot into mediocrity.

Yes and no. They do need to work together and find the best overall success for the team… requires selflessness that is not likely to be there if they hate each other.

Mike ain’t into confrontation… zero technicals in his career.

If it comes to the point of picking one or the other, maybe. Depends on how soon that comes. If we have them both might push all the chips forward and give it hell. The situation we’re in right now is what you rebuild for, and it’s very difficult to get here in the first place.

Things have undoubtably been said in private. Nothing changes. None of this is a secret.

Selflessness is hard to come by in a guy who cares about his brand above all else.

I don’t think that comes from being good friends with each other. Mitchell has plenty of close friends on the team. Sometimes having friends around you can reinforce the bad habits.

The driving factor is wanting to win above anything else. It has to be more important the shots you take, how you see yourself as a player in this league, how much you get the ball, how many minutes you play ect. You don’t have to be friends with your teammates to do that. Gobert is obsessive and he might be the odd guy out in the social circle.

Where are we? I don’t think any of us think we’re close to a championship. It feels much farther away than the past few years even.

And therein lies the difference. Donovan is more interested in upkeep of public appearances, his brand, and being friends with everyone. Rudy cares about winning, and also winning here. Planning what market you’re moving onto, letting rumors fly about you, not holding you or your teammates accountable, and being a big distraction for nearly 2 years now isn’t a way to build a success story, and this one won’t be. Sorry everyone.
