Trade deadline discussion

He can say what he wants about Utah but…. Lawrence, Kansas. Lawrence, Kansas.
He also may have just been playing the villain. He knows who he is. It would also be awesome to see our locker room challenged by the guy who said no one defends in Utah except Rudy. Maybe its an Ainge galaxy brain move. Unite the locker room against the ******* on their team.

Really interesting interview on Checketts show this afternoon with Tony Jones

-Said he 100% think's the Jazz will make a trade to replace Joe's spot in the rotation and that they have interest in Josh Richardson.
-Not exactly sure what he meant by this but said that another downside to losing Joe is that they lose one of the only guys in the Lockeroom that could look Donovan Mitchell in the eye and tell him no.
-The Jazz still believe that they can win a championship if healthy and are all in, so they won't hesitate to trade draft picks.
- If Jerami Grant is on the table for Joe's salary and two first round picks then he thinks it's a no brainer to make that move.
-The front office is starting to take on the personality of Danny Ainge and some of the names that are popping up that the Jazz are interested in are different from the type of guys that Dennis Lindsey went after.
-Joe's contract is the main thing being shopped but doesn't think they would hesitate to include another rotation player in a deal if they thought it could make the team better.
-There's a guy that a source told him Ainge is going after (Tony wouldn't reveal the name on air but said he'd text it to Spence) that is totally a Danny Ainge guy and someone that no front office in Jazz history before this one would've tried to get in a Jazz jersey. Any guesses who that could be?

I'll guess Marcus Morris is the mystery guy. Ainge signed him in Boston.
Josh Richardson makes a ton of sense for the Jazz. Perfect low-hanging-fruit trade.

Low-hanging fruit, but pretty overpaid for his role and we don't know if his career-year in efficiency is really going to translate. If it doesn't, it's a pretty bad move. Very meh and not a great use of the money for a team that will be on the brink of the LT AT BEST and well beyond it at worst.

He makes $16+ and $17+ next year and year after. He's notorious for being volatile. He's always being moved and there has to be a reason.

I think he's a massive risk.

In this cap environment that's not a ton of money for a 3 and D dude with scoring chops, can play all front court positions, and doesn't really have holes in his game. We also desperately need the edge.

It also wasn't long ago that CP3 was known as this dude that destroyed his teams because he was demanding of his teammates, while in retrospect it looks like he was just playing with losers (LAC and Houston). If this team is that then there's no saving them.

I really like Richardson as well and I think he's probably the most realistic of any of the names we've heard so far, but I don't think he's enough to put us over the top. Hoping we can make a bigger move.

Some say volatile... some say competitive fire. He's been on three conference finals teams. Even if he has been moved a few times... he's mostly been on winning teams.

Would you rather have a prickly ******* who fights a little here and there or a guy who prefers to put up big numbers on mediocre/terrible teams.

Morri are fiercely loyal... they are guys you want on your side... even if they are a little unpredictable and a little dumb.

Morris is a drastic move... it may very well not work out... but we kinda need a drastic move.

Gonna echo a common sentiment and say that as long as Marcus Morris is cool/happy to be here then I would be thrilled to have him. There's enough stink about him in the locker room and about him not liking Utah that I would straight up meet with him and kill the possibility of a trade if he says no then and there. He has to be on-board.

If it's for Clarkson straight up and there's nothing better then that's a fine deal, but no sweeteners. Joe's deal would be a terrible idea financially.

If Ainge comes on board only to get all the guys I’ve been calling for the past couple years…

Why do Clippers want to trade Morris?
That's actually a good question. I couldn't tell you, he seems important for how they try to play. The short and simple answer would be getting off the deal financially and get an asset in the process.

I mean I guess I could be talked into Morris, but I'm kind of eh.

Can he start at 3? I thought he was more of a 4?

More of a 4 now, started his career as a 3. Was a big problem as a small-ball 5 last year against us, at least/especially when his shot started falling.

We need a dude with some edge… i
Look at Memphis and other teams and just think we gonna get bullied… hell Draymond was on to bullying Rudy earlier… we need a guy that will fight mofos.

It's hard to believe this team has the same core as the 2018 one.
