As for the Coronavirus pandemic, it officially ends in 20 days. If you want to talk up how great masks and government mandates are then you may want to get it out of your system now because you have less than 3 weeks. As of Tuesday evening on March 1st, it is over.

You wouldn’t be scoffing at the idea that 20 days from now you’ll wake up in an America being ravaged by the pandemic but by later that same evening it will all be over, now would you? It is almost as if you think such an arbitrary end would be one of politics rather than THE SCIENCE (all praise be upon it). Such a thought would be blasphemy. The holy truth is that THE SCIENCE (all praise be upon it) changed its mind to bless us with forgiveness as will all be explained on March 1st by the prophet who deserves all the credit for getting THE SCIENCE (all praise be upon it) to change on that blessed day less than 3 weeks from this day.

I'm scoffing at the idea that it's the pandemic that's ending, as opposed something like a mask mandate or state of emergency. Of course, it's pretty obvious that the latter have to have some sort of ending date, so it's hard to be sardonic if you say they are ending.

Don't tell me that you believe mask mandates and states of emergency were political constructs. We've been told by our betters from the very beginning that THE SCIENCE (all praise be upon it) said they were made necessary by the pandemic. If the state of emergency exists on the morning of March 1st it is only because the pandemic exists, and if later that same day it is all over it is only because THE SCIENCE (all praise be upon it) changed on that day to end the pandemic. Give up your WWII German and southern secessionist ways, for THE SCIENCE loves you as the prophet will explain on March 1st.

They were created and imposed by political entities. What other sorts of constructs would they be? Is this Captain Obvious day, and no one told me?

Sure, just like THE SCIENCE (a non-political human construct) fueled the political policies leading to mandatory smallpox vaccination, fluoridated water, underground sewers, etc.

If not THE SCIENCE, what should have been driving public policy instead? THE PROFITS? THE PROPHETS? THE LOGICS? What's your alternative source for reliable policy during a pandemic?

Just for comparison and to stimulate thoughts:

Not sure how it was in USA (between 1945-1990), but at least in Soviet Estonia medical science was pretty much free of different politics. Obviously, the leaders at local communist party had a special hospital with better food and better beds, but the generic attitude of the doctors was same - to heal the people using the methods and limited resources they had. Of course, to have a meaningful career, the doctors had to be a member of a communist party, but that did not influenced the quality of medical care. Everybody was afraid of a dentist (until around 88-89 when we got the newer and less painful tooth drills.
However now almost every doctor needs to be a business owner (or now what successful business needs) and on social media there is a constant fight even among the doctors. Usually not about whether the Earth is flat or not, but "the political party i adore is better than yours" etc etc. Back in Soviet Union time - every Estonian doctor just dreamed about the independence. Now you have to wonder whether some active doctor or scientist is promoting something or not to earn some extra money while using the "praise the science" as a cover.

I think he is doing that thing he does where he rants and raves at a molehill in the hopes it will transform into a mountain. Similar to the whole "the USA isn't a democracy its a REPUBLIC!"

I often disagreed with franklin, but his posts were subtle, made interesting points, and I learned a lot from him.

You described medical practice, which is very different from medical science. Considering what happened with Lysenko in biology, I find it hard to believe other sciences were unpoliticized.

Now you have to wonder whether some active doctor or scientist is promoting something or not to earn some extra money while using the "praise the science" as a cover.

I agree. The state medical boards are usually much too slow in de-licensing the quacks.
