2022 NBA Draft Thread: We Going to Have a Pick! (lmao jk)

I think they'll look to move Brogdon as well...but I'm unsure of what for. I don't think their priority is tank or to clear cap space. They seem like a team that wants players on long term deals and you would think that Brogdon would fit into that.

If what we suspect is true and Don wants Gobert out, I think IND has high probability. There are still some people out there that think Myles Turner is Gobert who can shoot 3's....Don might be one of those guys.

Mike is also an IND guy and IND is the type of org that would want him because he's an IND guy. Could see Conley being added in for Hield.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of a deal around Conley/Gobert for Brogdon/Turner/2022 pick (plus extras).

I think Indiana would jump at that. They brought in Carlisle to win playoff games and this is probably the most likely option they have to be competitive again. Conley and Gobert have proven to be a successful combo and adding Haliburton to that mix could be really good. I would probably go see some Pacer games next year if that was the case.

From the Jazz perspective I love Turner and would enjoy watching him in a Jazz uniform. I would also love for everyone to see how bad Brogdon is on defense and how soft he is. In the end Turner and Brogdon probably combine for 50 games played, we win 30 games, Donovan asks out, and we have a great head start on our rebuild.

I have mixed feelings on Brogdon. He’s always hurt, much older than you would think, and there are the weird things about him being a potential locker room problem. Defensively I think he’s gone the Donovan way and given up on being a good defender. I remember him being a primary on ball defender for the Bucks, but I don’t think that’s a thing anymore.

In theory he could be a really good match with Don, as would Turner, but both Brogdon and Turner are very much, “the idea of player x is better than player x”.

If we must trade Rudy I don’t think it’s a bad option. I’d like Turner to agree to an extension and I also really want their pick this year.

TJ threw out in his podcast a "hypothetical" with the Hornets where we get 13, 15, Hayward, Washington and maybe another pick in the future. Seemed like a lot but coming away with 2 of Daniels, Sochan, Williams, Eason, Branham, Griffin would be dope.

For Gobert or Don?

I am not sure what the trade premium is to go from getting like the 10-13th pick to getting the 5-7th pick but I am not sure I'd pay it. I like a handful of guys in that tier.

Impact Players in the Draft Who Could Help the Jazz:
1) Jabari Smith - a more fluid, better-shooting, more perimeter oriented Jaren Jackson, Jr. Franchise talent.
2) Jaden Ivey - hybrid of John Wall and Anthony Edwards. Impossible to guard.
3) Chet Holmgren - better version of Porzingis and Poku, but probably still a 2nd-option type.
4) Paolo Banchero - I have some doubts about him, but he's an offensive player that teams can play through.
5) Shaeden Sharpe - Game-changing athlete, like a bigger Jalen Green.
6) Tari Eason - Rugged defender like a James Johnson, but with three-level offensive potential.
7) Dyson Daniels - The Australian, lead-guard version of Gordon Hayward.
8) Jalen Duren - The next Bam Adebayo, a two-way athletic big with some passing and mid-range touch.
9) Keegan Murray - Solid complementary scorer to replace Bogdanovic. Slightly better version of today's Harrison Barnes.
10) Benedict Mathurin - Prototypical 3D wing.
11) Jaden Hardy - A more athletic D'Angelo Russell. Instinctive scorer and self-creator.
12) AJ Griffin - He needs his athleticism back. If it happens, then look out. If not, then not sure.
13) Ousmane Dieng - Complementary 3D wing with length, a la Nic Batum.
14) Mark Williams - Solid rim runner and paint protector.
15) Wendell Moore - Younger with more upside than Agbaji.
16) Jeremy Sochan - Defensive disruptor. Maybe he'll learn to shoot well enough like DFS did.
17) Malaki Branham - Knock-down shooter with limited self-creation. Think Norm Powell or Gary Trent Jr.
18) TyTy Washington - He's as good a prospect as Cole Anthony and Tyrese Maxey were entering the draft. Yes, he's a bit small.
19) EJ Liddell - Versatile like Grant Williams, but with better passing and more game off the bounce.
20) Nikola Jovic - A project who needs to improve his athleticism, but too much offensive upside at 18 y.o. to pass up on.
21) Leonard Miller - A young, raw project with upside who should at least be able to defend a la Jaden McDaniels.
22) Marjon Beauchamp/Kendall Brown/Jalen Williams -- Pick your favorite.
23) Dalen Terry - Justin Holiday/Jeremy Lamb-type 3D guard...if he shoots well.

Edit: Johnny Davis should be in here somewhere. As always, the question is what kind of shooter he's going to be. People compare him to Devin Booker in some ways, but he's older as a prospect and at least a tier below Booker's shooting at UK.

Who are the toughest guys in this draft? Dudes who won’t back down to anyone…Liddell? Who else? I’m done with having soft *** bitches on this team.

Obviously best case scenario is trading Donovan to get one of the big 3 (Banchero/Chet/Jabari) but if they can't do that, and they can only get into the mid-late lottery, I want Jeremy Sochan.

It's kind of a "safe" pick, but I think we all know the key to rebuilding is not missing in the draft. Get Sochan, a guy I'm 100% confident will at least be a solid starter for years and is very versatile as far as team building goes, then go for the homerun when you tank the **** out of the season the following year.

Duren is a beast. Sochan is a tough motherhugger. Eason is tough.

Rudy. Premise is that Michael Jordan wants to make the playoffs, needs to move Gordon Hayward's contract, and is willing to move the FRPs to do it. Jazz would need a 3rd team to take Hayward, I'd imagine.

I would. I love Eason, Daniels and Mathurin as a consolation prize. There's a chance that Duren falls to late lotto, but we need help at the wing.

I'd trade Donovan for Jaden Ivey, if another pick or two were included.

I wonder if we can get the Kings to reach on Gobert. They're dying to make the postseason. I might take Barnes, Holmes and their lottery pick.

I think they view Sabonis as a center (which he is) so that would likely not happen.

If we do move Rudy and don't take a center back I would consider going for Holmes though. Or say we did the Hornets deal and got 13/15... would they go for JC and 15 or 13 for 7?

If I'm the Jazz, I insist on a top-8 lottery pick to move Gobert. The Warriors, Hawks, Raptors and Hornets don't have it, but they could work as a third team that compensates Sacramento and takes Gobert.

Whatever happened to that Draymond clone the Rox drafted around 25 last year? Guroba or something…

Also, if we’re moving on from Quin, I obviously want the best coach possible…but I think it’s really really imperative that we try to hire a minority candidate.

Jazz / Kings / Hawks

Jazz trade: Gobert
Jazz receive: Barnes, Holmes, top-8 pick

Kings trade: Barnes, Holmes, top-8 pick
Kings receive: Collins, Hunter, #16

Hawks trade: Collins, Hunter, #16
Hawks receive: Gobert

The Hawks would then have about 60 million dedicated to the Center position.
