HC candidates

My feeling is that if the Jazz were just going to cater to Donovan and hire the coach he wants they wouldn't be interviewing like 14 guys. They'd give a courtesy interview to half that number.
I agree, for the record I never thought the jazz would just lay down for Don. I’m sure they ask him his opinion and those things are weighted, but they will hire who they the jazz feel is best.
Lol so we definitely hiring Bryant.
He’s high on my list. Probably right behind Jensen
Jensen vs Bryant who you got. Don't let race play a factor
Jensen, I highly respect him as a coach. Played and coached under Rick Majerus for four years, then was hired to be an nba developmental coach, and in his second year was named the coach of the year, then hired by the jazz for the following year. He’s paid his dues has been a head coach and been successful. I love Bryant too, but feel at this point Jensen is more ready. He’s extremely smart, and knows the game well. I watched all his games with the utes. I always got the sense he’d make a great coach.

I was wondering when and who would post this.

If it were me, I'd interview Jensen, Bryant, Griffin, Vogel, Stotts and two of these young hotshots, the one from the Heat and one from the Celtics. ...Okay, I'd add the guys from Dallas and Milwaukee too. So that's 9.

It sounds like the Jazz may be interviewing guys for assistant coaching roles as well. So maybe they'll pick up a couple assistants. Jet Terry was just added to the list, which is now up to 15.

I heard we are adding Corey Maggette to the interview list... I also heard that Rony Seikly is interviewing for the in arena DJ position as well.
If that happened, it may actually rival a title in my fandom satisfaction. For those that don’t know, he really is a DJ.

For me it was much bigger news that Frank Vogel is being considered. I like Terry as much as anybody but the guy has exactly two years of coaching experience, one as an assistant for Arizona and one as head coach of the Grand Rapids G League affiliate. Thanks but no thanks.

I think Terry would be more for an assistant position.

Jazz should be more proactive and muzzle in on Charlotte’s action IMO. For Jordan It’s down to two basketball savants in Kenny Atkinson and Mike D’Antoni. I think our position is infinitely more attractive -more staying power and you don’t have perhaps the world’s biggest Sport’s Legend breathing down your neck.

I’d forgotten that Atkinson had worked on D’Antoni’s Knicks bench from 2008-2012. He also has a world of respect for him as a pioneer that helped to usher in positionless basketball apparently.

I’m with you 100% for your take on Jensen! Nice rundown and persuasive argument.

Current betting odds in case you have insider information and you want to cash in:
Odds on the next Jazz coach per @betonline_ag
Johnnie Bryant 3/1
Terry Stotts 7/2
Frank Vogel 6/1
Alex Jensen 7/1
Mike D’Antoni 7/1
Charles Lee 8/1
Adrian Griffin 9/1
Dell Demps 9/1
Will Hardy 9/1
Jerome Allen 14/1

PS Although Ryan and Danny stated they would take their time, draft is two weeks away and at least one article I read stated a decision soon.

At this point they might as well say "Sources say entire current pool of NBA coaches are interviewing for the Jazz head coach position, along with several janitors, announcers, and broadcast personalities."

Back from his playing days, I just remember nothing special from him in the talent and athletic department, but he understood the game more than most always played within the offense, and still managed 15-18 a game his senior year, and was efficient. He always out thought his opponent.

I see him in the same mold as a coach, he’s going to out coach the other coach and put his players in the best possible position to succeed IMO

I’m not saying he’s for sure going to be a top 5 coach in this league but he has it in him. There’s not many on his level upstairs imo of course. If the jazz hire one of these retreads I will be pissed.
