Spida Questioning Jazz front office moves?

Of course he did. Anyone should if they’re really buying this “re-tooling” fantasy.

What “retooling” actually means is “if we don’t get a good enough package for Donovan, we will hold out and just go into the season with him”.

Does anyone seriously think the matching salary in a trade with the Timberwolves makes the Jazz better? Because Ainge isn’t sending picks worth a damn to get better players.

I held out a little hope but the more I thought about it and looked around the league there is no realistic re-tool out there that makes us a legit contender.

To be honest, I didn't really see where we could retool without dumping core pieces. If the plan is a one year slide to rack up a high draft pick, use any and all cap space and draft picks to pick up and trade for pieces, then that makes sense. But a one summer retool without some stupid lucky chance coming out way wasn't going to happen.

fair questions. hell, i want to know what the plan is because running it back with mitchell with the roster as constituted makes very little sense to me - either keep rudy and try it again (glad they didn't do that) or blow it up. it makes zero sense to half *** it trading rudy but keeping don around so the jazz can fight for the play in - especially considering the strength of next years draft at the very top. it's a great year to go full tank.

"Core Players"

21-22
Conley, Don, Royce, Bojan, Gobert, Clarkson - #5 Seed in the West

22-23 (as of now)
Don, Conley, Beverley, Beasley, Bojan, Vanderbilt, Clarkson

Beverley is an improvement on Royce.
We didn't have a player like Vanderbilt last year.
Beasley and Clarkson are similar, but we did get more offense/shooting.

Yes, we lost one of our two best players, but it's not like we traded Rudy Gobert for scrubs. We added the two best perimeters we've had in since 2018 Crowder and Ingles.

You’re also just missing the part where we lost an all-star and DPOY.
