Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Donovan to the Cavs is not the craziest idea to me (from CLE perspective). Wonder if they'd want him to pair with Garland. They have plenty of garbage contracts to send back + their own draft capital.

Great, ****** *** 1sts and Sexton. They better send over Evan Mobley too.
Maybe they don’t, though? What would the Jazz be out?
Ehy would Sexton sign for that low amount. Lmao idiot
You wouldn’t need to worry about a Sexton/Donovan back court.
I’d much rather tank with Mitchell than Sexton. Why does everyone want to trade Mitchell so bad. We could easily tank with Mitchell and pair him with a stud or two. For only a one year tank.

Because Donovan is gonna bounce and he is a (perhaps rapidly) depreciating asset. There isn’t enough runway (to borrow a HH term) to rebuild with Donovan and he stay. Also keep in mind that Donovan’s super max contract if we were “lucky” to keep him would start at age 29 for $70 million a year.

Getting Sexton for $10-$15 million is 80% of Donovan for less than 50% of the cost on a younger player for a longer runway. It’s also an opportunity to rehab and asset and flip for more assets.

This team is going to be in a full rebuild in less than a year. You can bank on it. Every indicator is screaming that.

Don’t want a Mitchell Sexton backcourt too small and not enough touches to go around. Tank and build around Don.
How long you think Mike and Don gonna be here man? You get Sexton if you think there is a good chance one or both are moved. He's talented, he's young, and the price (in trade and contract value) might be right. Figure out the logjam later.

He may take qualifying offer if its MLE type money. I think you want to work some middle ground here if you do it and get the long term upside. I mean if he signs it and they match nbd. If you can send them JC for Sexton and get him at 17M average per year and maybe have it flat or declining value it would be a pretty good asset when he returns to form.

We don’t need to do anything with Don, I don’t care if he wants to leave. Fact is he’s already said he’s not asking out regardless of what he wants. Do a quick tank rebuild right and maybe he won’t want to leave. Sexton gets us no where is our goal to be just relevant or in the championship scene? We can always trade Don if it doesn’t work out, then we tank for another top pick. That Gobert trade leaves us plenty of options. I think Don is just glad Quin and Rudy are gone.

Ainge is probably looking for assets that he can flip for value. Once upon a time he did that with Isaiah Thomas. He's looking for buy-low opportunities.

We should be using the Gobert haul to finagle more pieces to put around Mitchell what does a trade of Mitchell for picks and a highly flawed might like Sexton get us other than really cool sex jokes?

You can’t bank on a quick rebuild and they rarely happen. The Jazz also have arguably 0 promising young players in the pipeline as it is. So even if they hit on more than one pick in 2023, they will be against the development curve. So that’s two years getting eaten off of Donovan’s three. Then what? Dumping picks for George Hill rentals?

Again, every real indication is that we’re rebuilding from scratch in less than a year. I don’t care what Donovan says through the grapevine, and I don’t read “we’re not trading Donovan” when JZ says “we’re not looking at trading him right now but everything is on the table.”

Actions speak louder than words and the Jazz have only positioned themselves for a complete rebuild. It’s not even close.
