What's new

Name a player that wouldve won Stockton & Malone rings.

Crazy that in the 97-98 season the Jazz were dead last in 3pt attempts per game despite being 5th best at making them. Bryon Russell is one of those dudes who if you put him in the modern era he's probably a drastically more impactful player.
So is Hornacek. And frankly Stockton, who was a great outside shooter. All 3 of them would have been much further ahead in today's game.

You are not wrong. If Ostertag took the game seriously he could have been a force. He had the body and the skill. Just had that goofy attitude that showed that in the end he really didn't care.
Shaq literally bitch slapped the drive right out of 'Tag.

lakers would've never gotten kobe.
Yes, and so we would have cleaned up on 96-99 titles, maybe more, and then the DWill teams would have advanced past the Lakers and onto the title in 2008-2010, then we would have retained Deron because he wanted to stay and won a title with Hayward, then Hayward would’ve stayed for the same reason when we drafted Mitchell and won 3 titles just now.

**** Layden for not drafting Vlade.

Nah, Dwill/Booz would've needed Marc Gasol to go past Lakers. If we drafted Marc instead of Fess, Lakers would be screwed *2 cuz they ain't getting Pau without Marc.

Blue Edwards and Junie Lewis put the Jazz over the top.

But they presumably wouldn’t have had Kobe.

The other day I was wondering what if Andrei Kirilenko came over during the 1999 season? Would his defensive versatility given the Jazz an edge in the 99 or 00 season against younger teams that ended up running us out of the building in the playoffs? Maybe not? Another question to consider is what if Mark Eaton stayed moderately healthy and didn’t retire and played in the 94, 95, 96, and 97 seasons? He would have been a huge improvement over Ostertag and Spencer.

What people remember from game 6 against the Rockets in 97 is Stockton’s heroics in the 4th quarter culminating in ‘the shot’. But Russell hit a couple of 3 pointers late in the game to get the Jazz back in it. He also shot 40% from 3 that year. You would indeed think they would use that weapon a bit more.
Incidentally, Ostertag put up 16/14 in that game, playing Hakeem to a dead heat before fouling out. Just for that game I’ll not allow Ostertag slander.

Ostertag was lazy and inconsistent. He had the talent but didn't put in the effort. Even he admits this and regrets not putting in the work.

I don’t disagree. But back in those days they showed very little NBA on tv where I live in Europe. Quite exceptionally they did show about 20 minutes of highlights of that game 6 on some sports programme. I taped it (yes, on a vcr) and watched it 3or 4 times that night and probably a dozen more times that week. Probably my strongest and best memory as a Jazz fan. And Ostertag was good that game and helped us get to the finals. Lazy and inconsistent, but he came through that one game I’ll always remember.

I’m not sure how to play this game.
Chamberlain
Bill Russell
Ewing
Hakeem
Gobert
Jordan
Nique
Bird
Pippen
Moses Malone
So many names.
Supposed to be somewhat realistic?

Naaahhhhhhh!!!

Ironically, I thought the wings on that team were decent. I rewatched a few of the games this summer and I was really disappointed in Stockton. He struggled against their length. We needed a more dynamic shoot first guard.

replace Stockton with prime Dwill and that’d probably do it.

By the time jazz reached the finals Stockton was heading down hill fast. Malone carried those teams.
