I just don’t think that’s the plan. Cool if that’s your take but feel like maybe it’s just the Jazz want to create the illusion they will keep Don forever to make a deal more juicy.

Or Scoot, or one of the other top guys. Vic is just optimal.

I promise that's the plan unless the Knicks give us a steal of a trade.

If that was the plan I don't think Windhorst and MacMahon would be reporting that the Jazz are motivated to trade Donovan before training camp begins.

Fournier, Toppin, Quickley (routed to Lakers?)

I think the point that HH raises about the cloud hanging over the Knicks’ players is legit, and I don’t think they have the courage or wherewithal to run with it and tank. So if they’re not gonna do that, they kinda gotta pull the trigger.

On the other side, I do have concerns Ainge is kind of insane and I hope rationality wins out if a good offer is on the table.

Well, then it would be a mistake to not be terrible in '25 because the pick would just slide over to that year.

And then it would be a mistake to not be terrible in '26 because of the protected pick.

Is one draft pick worth being bad for 3 years?

I don’t think you are crazy… I think you have your reasons for believing that… I think the people clued into the Jazz have their reasons to believe that as that is what they are being told… and maybe those folks are genuine… I see so many holes in that plan… it ignores all the human elements of this. Don hasn’t requested a trade yet… but the story comes out that if it happens he’d like it to be team xyz. He will not be benched like SGA… if we are trying to tank with him it will be a miserable year in limbo. If we suck he doesn’t get the accolades he wants… it risks injury or the possibility he’s exposed a little… you and I know how important Rudy is to his production and they have maximum spacers around him last couple years. Not to mention we kinda went out of our way to offload his best buds from the team. He will place nice only so long… doubt we want to get to a Harden or BS type situation here.

If plan A is to build around Don why get THT. He will eat up cap space that we don’t have to spare if Don is on the roster. If the plan is to be ****** we could just play JB.

I think we could end up keeping Donovan this year but it’s like plan C or D. If the Knicks dig in and say 2 unprotected picks, no RJ, No Grimes… I could see us waiting and it being miserable… if they bump up that offer as I suspect they will… then we pull the trigger at some point. I don’t think it has to come all the way up to Danny’s full price but it is Danny so he might just be stubborn enough.

Ha… if we tank he’ll be in Cancun for AS break.

If we don’t convey one of those picks it means we are in a good spot. We absolutely should be terrible in 23 and 24 at the absolute minimum.
