Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

Yesterday, Woj did a virtual fellatio to Rose and tried to present him as this uncompromising negotiator who when forced with Jazz demands for RJ Barrett he played the Jazz and made them relinquish their demands for RJB by signing him to a 4/130 deal and the Jazz really wanted RJ. And then all trade talks broke down. But today, the Jazz and NYK have never been closer to a deal and they've made more progress in the last 48 hours(in which the Jazz coveted RJB was taken off the table) than in 5-6 weeks before. Yeah. I'm calling BS. Either the report from yesterday is BS or the report today is BS. Pick one. It can't be both.

It could mean a lot of things... there are too many dots at this point to connect... its just a solid color.
 
The 4D chess side of me thinks Ainge was blowing smoke up the Knicks asses the whole time. RJ as a piece of the rebuild makes very little sense to me. I think he really wanted only the unprotected picks knowing that a cap-strapped core built around Donovan, RJB, Randle, and Brunson goes absolutely no where in the next 3-5 years.
 
Knicks needed to get this deal done with RJ so they can trade him next off-season.

Think framing it as a deadline to Utah was just a kill two birds with one stone type thing

If we didn’t want him and weren’t close on a deal don’t you think Ainge would be confused as **** at the report?

Combined with the short offseasons we have had and this being the first full offseason... it seems like the playoffs were 5 years ago.
 
If we really want RJ on this deal giving him contrack
that means Rose plays a hard Ball with US. Looks like he knows that anybody have assets to hire Donovan. Interesting what Ainge will do. I hope he wont take pride over income and sell Mitchell for less
 
I honestly think you could have taken the average Jazzfanner and they wouldn't have done a worse job as a GM in New York.

Like framer said. That's a REALLY low bar. He gave 370M to Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett and Julius Randle! I'm not incredibly impressed.

Says Ainge is insistent on getting 4 unprotected first round picks and Rose has yet to offer more than 2. The Lakers could get involved as a third team and would have interest in Cam Redish. Grimes, Toppin and Fornier are the most likely players to be involved in a deal.

I don't know why the two sides don't just meet in the middle and agree on 3 unprotected firsts and just get this done. This **** is exhausting.

I just wish there was a number between 2 and 4 where it makes sense to meet.

Seriously though go 5 picks 3 unprotected Grimes Quickley Toppin… IQ and Toppin won’t play much… just give ‘em to us damnit. If they want to keep Grimes then sub an unprotected pick or two protected picks in.

We route Reddish to LA with the other stuff we need to give up and get their picks. Part of me wonders if Grimes is actually the key that unlocks both LA picks… I think we could do it without him and seem to really want him.

It will get done before camp. I feel it in my balls.
 
Knicks fans will melt if RJ gets moved... Donovan might not end up being the fan favorite he thinks.

At this point I may just root for chaos to happen... whatever brings max chaos to everyone is the best scenario. No more rationale thinking... lets break ****.
