Rest Easy, The Jazz Will Be Awful

This is also another problem. A couple teams start bad and join the tank race. Now you won 30 games with all your culture talk... or more cuz other teams outtanked you... and now you got to the 8/9 spot for all your pain.

I hope we called LA today and were like... so Mike/Beasley/Vando for one first? How about Mike/JC/Gay straight up... no picks at all.

All this culture bs is so ****ing stupid. The way you win a championship is with generational talent. Most of the guys on the roster right now won't even be on the next good Jazz team anyway. Tanking for one season isn't going to completely ruin all of our young guys, they will be fine. It's driving me up the wall.

The Lakers have to be thrilled with this turn of events. There will be some surprising teams deciding to tank early on when it's clear they don't have a chance at the title. Going to assume there will also be some surprise names to potentially get moved by the deadline.

If I'm the Lakers I try to move WB now for 2-3 contracts that could flipped by February. That WB contract is so big it would be more manageable in movable smaller chunks as most teams don't have $47mil in contracts to move out.

I'm pretty irked that we likely should have sold Bogey off to Phoenix with Vando for that pick and salary. Vet trades actually gonna get cheaper as the season goes on. Gonna be a couple teams join the tank race and excess sellers. I know the pick was top 25 protected but I promise they'd slide that down.

Also, the stuff like OKC shutting down a healthy Horford will not fly this year. Too many teams will complain and the league will step in. Load management and extending rehab for injuries will be okay but there will be so much finger pointing when teams try to do fake nonsense.

Just trade some some guys for a pile of seconds and cap space. Hold your nose and lose a trade or two... just lose them in the right way.

You don't have to be the worst team, but you reasonably enough need to be in the bottom five to have a decent shot at one of the two blue chippers.

Both Wemby and Scoot are perennial ASG attendees.

Not doing the Phoenix trade was such a bad idea from the front office.
Vando became prime Dennis Rodman overnight. He's a fine player... his primary value comes from being cheap the next two years and productive. We really don't need cheap production... but here we are.

TF out early schedule is brutal. Hopefully by the time we’re 5-20 any early enthusiasm from the players has been crushed

Not a draft guru , but the odds to having the 5th overall pick post lottery, when you have the worst record in the NBA , are more than being in the top 4.Only thing being really bad does is mean you cannot fall as far.
I would rather they play the kids that have a chance to be on this team long term Like Vander Sexton Agbaji Marky and maybe a couple others all season. Leave the vet tank commanders left coming off the bench, so they can maintain their health, and still get some buckets like JC in a microwave role like last season. The trade him at the deadline for a late first from a contender.
Unless you don't trust your scouting department there is always an Agbaji at the end of the lottery

Zero chance he was a throw in. You don’t pick a guy in the first round who you consider has zero value. Also, draftees on the roster are essential to cap management. And I’m sure minny wanted lower value salary filler and Danny pressed for youth to develop

The Jazz weren't the team that picked Kessler.

You mean in actively hurting the team's chances of winning every minute they're on the floor?

Mmm, yeah. Dominating the ball, driving into the teeth of the defense, launching off-balance, mid-range jumpers, making a good play once out of 3 or 4 attempts. We're close.

We’ll end up with the 6th pick and nab a really good player…but not Wemby and not someone who re-signs when they become a UFA many years later in their prime.

Alright... I hate myself but what if we did Mike/Malik/Gay for Russ and the right to swap firsts this year with the Sixers/Nets pick, and a second round pick. Lakers get the worse pick of their pick or the NO pick. Should move us up maybe like 4-5 spots maybe.

Gives them some optionality salary wise and they can likely revive Rudy Gay a bit. Saves them like 20M too between tax and salary.

I like Beasley but man I really don't want us to end up with the 7th or 8th pick.

The hilarious **** would be we do any RUss trade, actually play Russ, and he reverts back to being OKC Russ and we win 41 games.

My biggest fear right now is that Conley remains healthy and has one of the best years of his career. Runs the offense nicely despite the lack of talent around him. Beasley and Lauri play well. Efficient somehow. And that our d is super scrappy…and we squeeze out 29-32 wins or so.
