10 Hot Takes/Predictions for teh SZN

1. The Jazz will win 23 games

2. No one on the Jazz will average 20 ppg. The closest will be Lauri, he will average 18.7 PPG.

3. The Jazz will make 3 separate trades from the time of this post until the mid-season trade deadline.

4. @Handlogten's Heros will like THT by the end of the season.

5. Walker Kessler will make the All-Rookie 2nd Team.

6. Mike Conley will not be traded this season. He will average roughly 25 mpg and appear in 50 games (no major injuries). He will be good enough to where he is a tradeable asset in 2023-2024 without being viewed as a negative for the team acquiring him. (My caveat would be if John Wall has a season ending injury the Clippers will trade for him)

7. Despite the high amount of 3pt shooting talent the Jazz have, they will be a bottom 10 team in terms of 3pt shooting percentage.

8. The Jazz will have the worst defense per Team Defensive Rating (via NBA.com)

9. Jared Vanderbilt will lead the team in rebounds per game.

10. 4/6/23 will be the most important game of the season and it will decide who has the worst record in the NBA. If I told you the names of every Jazz player who will play in the game that day, you will only recognize 4 of the names from the current roster. The others will be G-League call-ups. The level of atrocity on display will make the league consider changes to the rules.

*Bonus Non-Jazz Take* T'Wolves finish 1st in the Western Conference Regular Season and lose in the Conference Finals.
What's your definition of "hot"?

These are some of the most tepid takes I've seen.

"each team will play 82 total NBA games"

"Only male athletes will play in games this season"

"National anthems before each and every game this year"

Boler will call a free throw line jumper a three pointer... then be shocked and say "they gave him a two?!?!?"

Jazzfanz will discuss whether the Mike Conley trade was a failure or success.

I will swear off Hearsky's mom only to get lonely on the weekend and relapse.

Cy will call someone a racist.

Also we will sign and trade Paris Bass 7 more times.

Pretty good stuff. Maybe the GOAT post of yours. Well done.

2. They are just as likely to win the lottery or one of the top 4 picks sitting at 13th in the standings after developing through trying to win, with a mix of vets and youth, then playing the worst line ups and tanking.
Incorrect. Literally. Statistics, percentages, and odds already exist for this scenario. 13th isn't just as likely to win the lottery as the worst teams in the league.

I don't have too many hot takes... Here's a couple:

1- Don has a hot week or two to start the season... lopo comes back to yell at Cy... Cy gets banned for two weeks for mocking him.
2- Walker Kessler starts at center by the end of the year.
3- We end up trading one of Vando, Lauri, Beasley for draft compensation (not flaming hot but warmish).
4- Simone scores 30 in a game this year.
Lol at #1 Please be true.
Who is simone?

Let me take a stab at some hot takes

1 - MellotheJazzKiller will come on jazzfanz and apologize for the knicks not making a better offer for Don
2 - Homey will actually make a post that is not gleague related or former jazz men
3 - Cy will and Lopo will become fast friends and agree on Don
4 - Jazz will actually win the 1st and 2nd pick in the draft shortly after the earth will be hit by an asteroid.
5 - I will get my PTSD under control and have a normal life.
6 - Hearsky's mom will become a nun
7 - I will get banned for this post
8 - Cy will actually listen to someone else's point of view and agree to disagree
9 - one of my favorite teams will win a championship this year
10 - I completely fail at this hot takes thing
#6 and #8 are gold.

sexton being an all star replacement is the actual hot take?
Nah, I would say the hot take is predicting who gets traded. No way Sexton is a reserve unless like 20 reserves in front of him get injured. He would have to average like 25-5-5 to be a reserve with the record we are going to have and I'm not sure he's even going to get 30 mpg at this point.

My definition of a "hot take" would be a specific prediction, not a general one. Hot takes should be within the realm of possibility, not something that is certifiably insane.

I wouldnt categorize all 10 takes as "hot takes" which is why I labeled them hot takes/predictions.

Not sure how hot this take is, but looking at how tough our schedule is the first part of the season, I think we only win 5 of our first 25 games.

out of context response much? So to have better odds at staying in the top range of picks if you are not already in it must be better than being a team fighting for a play in, smh.
Here is the issue I have with thinking tanking is the answer: you cannot tank for a top pick, like the NFL all you tank for is a chance for a top pick and that is useless unless you win a top pick. I don't consider the odds to win a top 4 pick much better for your roster build, unless you are that bad without intentional use of bad line ups or resting good players. To me just trying to play winning basketball, develop the team you have, which could be decent at times, pick where you are, and make more trades and offseason signings etc is the way to go.
Now if the Jazz use tank commanders like JC or THT all season you can talk draft all season debating who is best to take at 5 or 6 if they fall out of the top 2, like most teams that are terrible have done since the rule change. But I bet most people can't name 4 players that will be in this draft after Vic and Scoot let alone 8

I am pretty convinced this team won't be nearly as bad as most think, unless they force Sexton and Marky into a low usage out of position roles. Meanwhile, overplaying iso dom basketball that is disorganized and me first tank mode for sure, then yeah they will stink, but it won't be because of who the face imo.

he is not going to be an allstar if they are a bad team smh so yeah I would say that is def a hot take if he plays so good that he is one anyway.
Maybe you should stop claiming the death punch of kindergarten kids is a viable war machine

On the flip side Minnesota has the easiest starting schedule in the league. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them come out blazing hot like 10-1 or something like that.

Today my ignore list grew by 1

Maybe Sexton playing reasonable defense was the wild hot take that really gone under the radar in that post ?
