Official Utah/Minnesota/Philadelphia Pick Watch

It will take the Wolves longer to figure it out than I thought.

They have weird personalities that will feed into the nature of media trying to sensationalize things. They may need to move on from DLo and bring in veteran help who can help balance things out. Ill still be shocked if they miss the playoffs, but I expect the pick to be in the early 20s now instead of the late 20#s

Towns hasn't looked good so far, especially defensively. Anthony Edwards is supposed to take a step and close games, and he hasn't been very reliable. Rudy seems to be doing his thing. The Gobert trade has also hurt the T'wolves' depth. Pat Bev, Beasley and Vanderbilt were all contributors. They're not a very tough or physical team right now.
There is nothing wrong with their depth at all. It's just how their stars are meshing currently.

Yep. You really can't get a good feel for teams until at least game 20. You also regularly see a few teams fall apart and breakout during the second half of the season ala the jazz and Celtics last year.
I mean KAT is who he is. He's not changing. He has played losing basketball as a leader his entire career. You think he is going to step back and play third fiddle to ANT and Gobert? Do you think Rudy and ANT are going to sit back and be OK with KAT being KAT?

This could be the Jimmy Butler saga all over again, and I am here for it.

It's impossible. Philly and Brooklyn aren't both missing the playoffs
Its very very very very unlikely... but Embiid is nursing a foot injury and its why he was out of shape to start the season. Harden has been good but he's relying on shot making and can't get by guys anymore (at least not like he used to). Nets are dead last in defense and if KD misses 20 games they might be cooked. Kyrie disappears for a month at some point and who knows if he comes back.

I would be absolutely shocked if both teams missed the playoffs but I wouldn't be shocked if the Nets did... its a house of cards there... and I wouldn't be shocked if Philly missed the playoffs if Embiid missed 40 games. Again... highly unlikely... but people wouldn't have said that both LA teams would miss the playoffs last year either.

Brooklyn and Philly would need to see injuries to KD and Embiid respectively. If that happened, lotto is possible, but east just isn’t that strong at the back end.

They'd really need to miss enough that they aren't top 6 which I actually think I'd bet one of those teams ends up in the play in. Anything can happen in the play in. The Nets are super combustible. KD could easily just check out mentally and has logged a **** ton of minutes and may just be exhausted with the Kyrie BS **** show. I mean the dude wanted out bad... any hint of real adversity and I'm not sure that group survives.

Philly I think is fairly safe to end top 6. It'd have to be a long term Embiid injury and I think Harden could cover.

With Kat it is all about the offense and on that end of the court he is definitely a go to caliber of big. Gobert on the other hand should be viewed as a 3rd or 4th fiddle offensively.

Except KAT takes play and games off. You don't have players that lead "only on offense." It moves off the court if you aren't supporting your teammates in all aspects, as we have just witnessed.

There is a difference between team leader and 1st and 2nd fiddle offensively. There is no debating that Kat is an offensive beast while Gobert is incapable of creating his own offense. There are also lots of players over the years that lead only on offense and led some solid teams. I just think it is way too early to make any declarations about any aspect of the wolves right now though. I still like their potential quite a bit with Edwards and Kat setting the tone offensively while Gobert and McDaniels set it defensively. In the end hopefully it doesn't work out though because that is great for us.

I really think Philly rights the ship. Embiid dealt with plantar fasciitis this summer but they added some nice depth pieces over the summer and Maxey is legit.

OTOH Brooklyn with Kyrie and Simmons. That has the potential for ugliness.

Sixers look rough. Embiid does not look engaged. I can see a scenario where the wheels come off. I'd give it 5% but not 0% as you suggest.

Also, this is no longer the Eastern conference that will allow you to back into the sixth seed with a losing record. There are only 3 teams that will be truly terrible.

KAT is putting the squeeze on ANT defending Gobert indirectly by mentioning his diet after ANT said publicly that he plays better without a center. This smells like the Twolves will implode this with the drama that is occurring. Barely a playoff team means a mid-teen/high-teen pick for us. Sucks for Rudy, he has to walk on eggshells again...yikes.

Way too early to know what's gonna happen. But Minny have to find a better way to manage all those stars and ego if they wanna achieve something this year. Coach have some job to do.

Late 20’s lmfao.

They couldn't even make it 4 freaking games. I mean at least last year's Jazz team made it a few months.
