Remember when evangelicals cared about morality and abortion? Haha good times. How many ex mistresses will come forward between now and the runoff election telling stories about how he beat them and paid them for abortions? How many children will come forward that Walker had out of wedlock?

But like… don’t ever ever ever make fun of these voters or question their intelligence or else they’ll vote for someone like Trump or Walker or something.

What is ashely madison
It was (is?) a dating website intended for married people to discreetly cheat on their spouse. It was famously hacked several years ago, which is why I think it might not exist anymore, and the real names of its users was published in easily searchable form online. Lot's of suspicious spouses busted their cheating partners, but the real juice was the famous people who were on the list.

Well that is scummy

Married adults seeking an affair (at least, it used to be). Not sure why The Thriller is using "sicko".
The sickness part of that guy wasn't related necessarily to Ashley Madison. It's what he was accused of/convicted of doing to his sister far earlier in life... I think his name was Josh Duggar. He had an Evangelical reality tv show or something if I remember right. Ashley Madison and incest while promoting Evangelical Christian values!

Oh it's still very much alive.

With a few people breaking ranks in MAGA, overall lower election rates than expected along with Trump passing out blame like candy on Halloween, and a credible challenger in DeSantis, we may see much of the republican party eat itself.

One can only hope.

I personally hope that a party of sober grown-ups emerges from the ashes, but who knows?

I am not certain that will be the case either, mainly because we don't have a party like that at all in America right now. Sure the repubs are mostly spoiled toddlers right now, crying for their ice cream when they refused to wash their hands, but the dems are basically stubborn tweens mad at mom and dad that they didn't get the playstation 5 and only got a stupid switch, so only marginally better and only by comparison. We are still rapidly degrading into full-on demagoguery in our overall political system. My fear is that the republican party ends up gutted and weak which allows the democratic demagogues to get fully into power, and then we will see every freedom we have regulated into oblivion, or worse.

I have never really been a fan of Bill Maher, but man recently he is riding the wave of the middle of the partisan divide and is in rare form. He gets it, and calls out hypocrisy wherever he sees it. This one was particularly prescient, and speaks to what I fear if we end up with a neutered republican party and a democratic party given free-reign to regulate anything they want to. Yeah I definitely don't agree with everything in this, but the overall message is on point and sobering. Neither side can be trusted to run things effectively unchecked. That would be the beginning of the end for us as a nation. So I am with you, yes I certainly hope a more rational party emerges from the embers of the republican party, but considering both parties have been driving Mad Max-style straight toward idiocracy and demagoguery, I am not holding my breath.

This is why R's don't want Trump to run in 2024 - they know he's toxic to the majority of the country who wouldn't let them cut their grass much less manage the country.

Is MAGA a bit enough base to win primaries? Maybe, but I'm not betting on it the next couple of years as the political engines run.

This is also why its stupid when MAGAs act like the election must have been stolen because there is no way biden could get that many votes. The simpletons are unable to realize that many of those votes were votes against trump rather than votes for biden (like mine for instance)

MAGA already won the primaries. That’s why they had so many MAGA candidates in the general election.

MAGA would still win the nomination today. Easily too. If Trump declared today, he’d easily have the Republican nomination. Frankly, I’d be surprised if anyone dared challenge him. DeSantis, Noem, etc would all roll over and beg for Orange God King to rub their bellies.

The issue is with the general election. Is MAGA numerous enough to win generals? It’s proving to not be. Although, the EC keeps them competitive. Imagine how this wouldn’t even be a question if we based our presidential election on the popular vote rather than EC? It would force the GOP Right now to dump MAGA and compete in the marketplace of candidates and ideas. They’d have to find someone who could appeal to the moderates and liberals who make up the majority of the population.

I approached the election with the mindset of ‘Would you rather be shot in the head or burned alive and then have salt dumped on you?’

I chose the former though it doesn’t mean I liked it.
