This country is ****ed tho, got an energy crisis, cost of living crisis, we are net exporter of energy, the government is trying to cap domestic energy prices to reduce cost of living and inflationary pressure on businesses and what happens? The state governments are whinging about losing royalties and want the feds to compensate them. At the same time the mining companies still make out like bandits... Fortunately interest rates just went up again so the everyone but the banks are getting screwed even harder....

Partly, government borrowing to provide income support to people during covid has increased the price of money and put upward pressure on interest rates. its not like they had any other options tho. That coupled with the war in Ukraine and i suspect a fair bit of profiteering from corporate monopolies has led to an inflation rate of 7%+. The energy stuff is the product of the Liberal Parties 15 year long campaign to use energy and climate policy as a political weapon as a result we've had no coherent investment or planning in the energy sector since the mid 00's. Its ridiculous how we collect taxes or income off our own natural resources, the government of Qatar makes more money of our natural gas than the Australian people. All this coupled with stagnant wage growth for the last decade is going to put a lot of people to the wall.

Could be worse tho we could be the UK.

Wow that’s bleak… Is home affordability still too high for most?
 
I am rooting hard for Spain to kick Marocco out. There is a huge Maroccan comunity here in Belgium and every time they win a match their massal celebrations end up in riots, clashes with police and plundering. So sick of it.

*******s of politicians who've never worked in the real world a day in their life. All our leaders are complete and utter morons who think they're playing with monopoly money and have no vision or direction other than looking toward the next election. Like Rubashov said our energy policy is a complete and utter shambles. With all our natural resources we should be prospering but the only ones who are would be the mining companies. Basically we're no longer the lucky country we're the ****ing moron country.
