Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Lets get something straight... it was a rounding out the roster meh move... but it was also a save $5M and now we don't have to worry about bumping up against the tax move.

I didn't like the move at all because of the things others have stated. I also think having a roster hole would make us a better tanking candidate. KO filled the biggest roster hole and yes is the worse trade asset.

We need to tank. Its time to sell off KO/JC/Vando (Conley if you can) and ensure we don't end up 11-14 ish. We have to do something that will hurt a little but there should be adequate deals out there for one or all of those guys. Its time to stop effing around... we aren't a 10-3 juggernaut... we are super mid.
Why did you include vando? He is young and not very good. he helps the tank and has some potential to help the rebuild and contending future teams.

No thanks, we don’t give Kessler enough minutes as is. Hell, I wouldn’t mind seeing more Dok either.

With that logic we won’t be in the market for anyone besides young guys who will be restricted free agents.
Elizah, you make a good point so let me respond. We just don't seem to be a popular free agent market so I'd rather build through the draft. We had a one year rental on George Hill, and Hayward left, and Mitchell was unhappy. So sure, my preferred strategy is build through the draft. We should be able to control draft picks for 7 years out. If there are players who might fit and seem like they want to come here via trade or free agency, I could make exceptions. I have no evidence Collins wants to be here long term, so I am very skeptical that he would work out.

they need Sexton healthy and the wins will start coming. he is the missing link. or maybe not and he is just half his old self all season

It's always strange to me when we discuss the Bogey deal that people cant wrap their heads around multiple things being true.

I think all the following are true:

1. Obviously it was a money saving move. (on the list of importance, this might be the highest)
2. The Jazz probably did make a promise they would move Bogey (because they probably knew they needed to do it to save money. Utah probably also didnt want to extend him at the price he wanted, Bogey have a career year is surprising)
3. The Jazz needed to move Bogey because him and Lauri are positionally redundant and would have made it harder to feature Lauri
4. KO is Danny's son
5. The Jazz badly needed a center
6. The Jazz badly needed passing
7. KO's deal is a versatile trade piece. 12 million is a good amount for matching salaries. Gives the Jazz a large array of different sized salaries, and he is only partially guaranteed for next year. It's a very flexible asset.

I agree with basically all of this but that still doesn’t mean we got great value back for Bogey.

We need to move vets for future value and hurt the on court production to tank. Simply benching a few guys here and there won't do it. While we could keep Vando i think he is the easiest guy to move with the widest market because of his contract.

Yes, a guy shooting 55.9% from the field and averaging 20/10 is hurting the team for sure.
Yes, they do at times. We had some rough years with Dantley putting up gaudy numbers but not doing much to help us actually win.

Ehh, I'd really like to keep Vando personally. I do think he provides a lot of value if you are able to fit him in the right lineups.

While I don't think his potential is super high, he does have good overall IQ and his passing is solid. If he can combine that with actual effective aggressive rim attacking, especially in transition, he has a lot of value.

Put me in the keep Vando category as well.

For us to truly tank... we will need to sacrifice something.. and that sacrifice will sting at least a little. We take whatever good deals come through the door for our players who are good now (except Lauri and Walker). If the deal is for Vando... then so be it. If it is for JC... then flame on somewhere else. If its for KO or Mike... great they are the guys with the least long-term value. If someone makes and offer for Rudy Gay... I will drive him to the airport.

We must submit control to the tank.

Vando does not help the tank. He is good.

As vandos biggeet fan on this site i tend to agree. Seems like most people think he isnt good though with Tremendous Upside thinking vando is the worst player in the nba.

Just thought it was weird to want to trade him when he isnt a vet and has one of the worst plus minus om the team and would probably be worse with less talent and vets around him. As much as i like him i still dont think he is a big time scorer or a lockdown defender. He is a guy who is ok at a lot of things but he isnt markennen or something. It aint like oh no we lost vando now we will never win again or something.
