Game Thread Game thread calendar doesn't show a game today but we play the Nets

Added to Calendar: 01-20-23

Oh shutup. You got to be a complete bozo not to have seen how much Royce was scapegoated and hated on at times the past two seasons. Plenty of people acted like we scammed the Nets on the trade.

You are just a really weird dude. You don’t even like our players but you’re happy a former player played well against us.

You're not wrong that Royce got plenty of criticism when he was with the jazz. Fans are often critical of players when they think they are playing poorly. I have even seen you criticize current and past jazz players. I haven't seen anyone hate him since he left though. Or hate him while he was here. I criticized him often but also acknowledged that he played hard and was a good dude who ended up way better than his draft projections (I think he went undrafted iirc). I certainly didn't/don't hate him. I wanted him to suck last night cause i wanted the jazz to win (or have him play great and the jazz win. Thats cool too) but same thing goes for Alec Burks, rudy gobert or anyone else. I hope they all play great when not playing the jazz but if they play great against the jazz and the jazz lose then I dont like that so much. Jacque Vaughn is one of my all time favorite players as well but I wasn't rooting for him to have one of his best coaching games last night. I wanted him to lose.

You do understand there is a difference between being disappointed with someone's play during certain times and hating them, correct? Or even unhappy about their role or the way coaches use them? There is actually an area between love and hate, and with professional athletes I'd hope that's where they fall for the majority of people.

It is really rich for the biggest Kessler and Sexton hater on the board to be posting the **** he does. He lacks self awareness big time.

The negativity towards Royce last year was over the top relative to his play.

To be fair I don't think Cy likes anyone. Besides himself obviously.
He has been handing out the insults like candy lately no doubt. I have been called many things over the last week by Cy. Hadn't been called Bozo yet so congrats on that. He changes up the insults at least. gotta give him credit for creativity.

It happens sometimes. Not only to royce either. In fact the dude up in arms about the treatment of Royce has been overly negative to sexton and kessler relative to their play. Its not that big of a deal. Sports fans are passionate and have their favorites and their players they dont like as much. Doesn't equal hate and Royce got a warm reception last night and acknowledged it post game.

Also its hard to quantify how much criticism a player deserves relative to their play. Rudy Gay gets tons of criticism. Is it the exact perfect amount relative to his play though? Does he deserve more criticism? less? Then you add in that each person has different opinions on how well a player is playing. its very subjective. You say the criticism of Royce was "over the top". Maybe you think he was a better player than some other people. Doesn't make you correct. Or them correct. It looks like he is having the best season of his career this season with the nets.

Cy is just one of those angry racists. I'm not sure how he became a jazz fan or if he actually lives in Utah but he enjoys calling us all racists.
I dont know about all that (I dont know cy well enough to claim he is a racist) but as for where he lives, no he doesn't live in utah. He lives in a place free of racists. Alabama or something like that. maybe louisiana? Somewhere in the south. iirc.

I'll say it, 7.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.5 assist in 33 minutes is terrible. I don't hate the guy but he was the worst full time starter in the league last year and from a basketball perspective we haven't missed him one bit. I'm happy to see him getting minutes but he's about a mediocre as it gets. Dude hasn't scored over 15 points since late November. His defense is all he's good for and he's slightly above average there.

Ya he would have been better for us off the bench I think. He got gassed playing huge minutes and trying to guard to many dudes in too many different positions. His best attribute was his high energy. Probably could have stayed high energy in a smaller role off the bench. Problem is that our defense was so bad that we needed someone in the starting lineup who at least gave effort on defense and Royce did that. I think he was/is a good defender but since he was our only defender on the perimeter he looked worse than he was as we had him defending players that he shouldn't have been asked to defend.
Overall i agree with you though. He wasn't very good for an nba starter on a contending team. Thats the thing though. You and i think that but there will probably be a poster or posters who will call us stupid idiots and talk about how great he was. Its subjective.

The main thing though is that jazz fans in as a whole dont hate Royce Oneal.

Got to change it up because Elizah likes to copy me like a little brother

The main thing with Royce last year is that he fell off drastically on the defensive end of the court. He went from a good defender to a somewhat mediocre defender at times and defense is mostly about effort. I really haven't watched any nets games this year so I have no clue if his effort has gotten back to what it used to be. Judging by his assist numbers he seems to have improved as a play maker though.

Lmao. If you feel like it's directed towards you then there's probably a reason for that

Royce was flat out undervalued here. I've always been a fan of his game and knew he could do more. I'm glad to see him doing that. The board simple simons can't take that.

Brooklyn did a masterclass on the defensive end. They disrupted the offball offense, manhandled Lauri without putting him on the line. That alone took away 9 to 10 points.

Because he's doing so much for The Nets.

Edit: on second thought he does certain things decently but as fish and I agreed he's not starting material. To me, he's a valuable role guy not some 30+ minute starter.
