Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Depends with Mike. If he is healthy finishing the year his expiring contract has value just as an expiring. It might fetch a greater return this summer. I also don't think the offers are all that great tbh. Would not be surprised to see Mike finish his deal out here.

Agree on the others... I think their value has likely peaked... we don't have to move them of course but the window on them is now.

I really want to get Kennard in a trade for Mike, especially if we're moving Beasley.

I wonder if the DFS stuff is a reaction to watching our team get blasted by perimeter players this year and seeing what DFS did to Donovan last playoffs. It kind of seems crazy to have that type of reaction to our team this year given where we are at.

Funnily enough I think he’s the most likely to get traded.
Just because someone thinks he’s most likely traded doesn’t make it the right move. IMO it’s not
Beasley and Vando are two guys that I think are overvalued around the league right now, which makes it good timing to trade them....Vando has a chance to get better, I think Beasley is who he is but I wouldn't mind trading both.

Last chance to move Conley at any semblance of value as well.
I actually think he’s underrated. He’s got a high ceiling IMO

I can see a case for him being underutilized and having more. Had some additional playmaking duties in Detroit. I wonder if his contract is viewed as positive though. He has had injury issues and is having like "knee soreness" games missed again.

He has a better case than a lot of guys imo. I would agree he's a buy low... but want more than just Kennard in that deal.

From Clutch Points:
“The Jazz are expressing strong interest in Mavericks forward Dorian Finney-Smith, as teams have gotten the impression that Dallas would be open to moving the 29-year-old in the right deal for a star-caliber player, sources say. The Mavericks have an incredibly high price threshold for teams reaching out about Finney-Smith, rival executives say.”

Under that condition, it appears that the Mavs are only going to be willing to send Dorian Finney-Smith to Salt Lake City if it meant landing either Lauri Markkanen or maybe Jordan Clarkson. Markannen is going to be under team control for multiple seasons after the 2022-23 NBA campaign, while Clarkson can be a free agent as easily as this coming offseason when he gets a chance to pick up a $14.2 million player option.

I’m ded from laughing so hard…

Dorian Finney Smith is almost 30, trading for him seems like a win now move. Definitely not the trade rumor I expected to see this morning.
I think you want the most important pieces to fit this time line everyone talks about. Still need vets a role player like DFS doesn’t need to fit a timeline as long as he’s not over the hill. We need guys like him. He should serve his purpose and role just fine over the next five years. He’s also easily replaced. Not everyone needs to fit some all mighty time line.

In addition to folks thinking Lauri is some throw in... DFS is just a weird rumor "we will give you a reliable 3 and D guy in a trade for a star" is just a weird message. When selling off start you ain't looking for 3 and D guys... I get it could be a three way trade or something. Its just odd.

Danny calling Cuban.

Cuban: hello?

Danny: hey Mark, calling to see what it would take to get DFS?

Cuban: (thinking) we need a star player. DFS is one of the best 3&d players out there. You know what they say Danny, defense wins championships right Danny!!!?

Danny: (rolling his eyes) let me think (click)

Cuban ………………….. I’m ya take your time……………. Danny??? You there??

Kind of crazy how much Wood has flamed out considering his upside and potential and what he showed before he got to Dallas. Of course Porz was the unicorn before he went to Dallas and look how that worked out. Maybe bigs just cannot develop and perform well in their system.

Even Powel to an extent. I thought he had a chance to be pretty good after his rookie year, but he hasn’t really progressed much past his rookie year, basically the same dude, maybe worse. Lol

Gobert actually would have been a really good pair with Luka. Can you imagine him setting screens for Luka all game and being the roll man where Luka is very good at finding bigs too?

I'd feel confident that you'd rather have Kennard than Conley next season....unless it's some situation where you want more outgoing expiring salary in a trade.

I think we need to be in the business of buying guys when they are low, and I agree that Kennard is buy low and we could probably get something extra too. If he's the player he's been, I think the trade is still fine....but I'm still somewhat intrigued by him as a ball handler/more aggressive scorer. I think he has the skill, but I know LAC has tried to make him more aggressive but he never really complied.
