Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

My preferred deals:

Beasley to Memphis for Green, filler, and the GS pick they own in 2024.. that pick might be pretty good. Some pieces could be added on either side to massage that type of deal.

I am assuming the Westbrook deal ain't happening. So Conley to the Clips for Wall, jackson, Boston and a pick swap with the Philly pick this year and maybe some seconds is what I'd be after. If we take Kennard in that deal I'm cool but I'd like to send Gay to them in that case. Wall and Jackson are both bought out in this scenario.

Vando I don't have one I prefer. JC I don't think is being shopped. I'd like to avoid taking salary but to get a first or two you may have to.

I want Kennard back in any Conley deal with the Clippers especially if we trade Beasley.

That's what Bev was this year though. I just think we had a path to a decent chunk if cap space and the THT deal made that more difficult. I've seen nothing about THT that has changed my opinion of what he is or could be in the league. The trade ballast may be useful in a sign and trade so its fine... I would have not done the Bev deal unless I got seconds (the Lakers had some good ones). I would have waived or bought out Bev before doing the THT deal.
The nice thing about our position is that we don't need to go through the "take on bad contracts" phase of the rebuild. There is no reason to consider the Bertrans of the world. Taking a fliers on Sexton and THT, players that are on reasonable contracts and have upside, is going to be the new hot thing. Although, I'd like a little more weight on efficiency. . .

My weird conundrum is if we trade Beasley and get back Fournier then Kennard and Fournier are kinda redundant. I'm concerned that Luke's knee is not good. He plays low minutes and has issues staying healthy. I think that contract is one injury away from being a negative deal. Its not horrifically negative but I don't view it as the big item I'd want back in a Conley deal.

You should put on some Depends just in case, because that is a real possibility.
No way we do nothing. We cannot develop Beasley or Vando with their minutes declining. DA has thrown so many nets in the ocean with those 2 as bait that there must be something out there he likes. And there is not much competition out there that sell similar services to upgrade benches.

Smoke around KO as well (albeit not much), and some around Conley albeit all reports from Conley suitors are "too expensive, pass" -type. I also remembered after posting the "no smoke around Clarkson" that there might be offers we dont want to announce since we dont want to trade bait him in case we end up keeping him. Doesnt mean he wont get moved.

I also have no problem drafting and keeping three rookies next year. Having two "hits" in last year's draft makes things immensely easier. We can hit on 2 of the 3 and still be golden.

The surprise potential Ainge move to watch is if Collin Sexton is thrown into a deal. I think with some of the smoke we've heard about the org being disappointed in what we have gotten from Sexton I wouldn't be shocked to see him moved. I don't want to do it but it might return value and help clear up some future roster building issues. Not predicting it... just my hot take thing that could seemingly come out of nowhere.

We've heard a couple of times that Kessler, Agbaji, and Lauri are the only guys we have that are "untouchable." I could definitely see Sexton being moved.

I'm sure Danny will try to make trades for first round picks and young talent. I just suspect that most offers we get will only be for 2nd round picks and to dump bad contracts on us. It just feels like the market to get first round picks is drying up quickly even tough Jazz fans got spoiled last summer.

That’s a good point although if Sexton is starting at PG we would need someone to replace his minutes as well.

I could convince myself that keeping Conley is not a terrible move, but keeping Clarkson is pretty dumb. He's a wasted asset that will be gone at the end of the year. Keeping one or the other might be alright for culture or whatever. Keeping Conley makes more sense because he still may have value next year, where keeping Clarkson does nothing for you. Keeping them both simply does not make any sense to me.

It doesn't seem like there's a ton of interest in Clarkson, I'm assuming his PO has a role in that because he could just bounce after the season.
