Collin Sexton SZN

Agreed. Mike always made others better and I think that is what great PG's do. Obviously elite players in general do so but it is key at the PG position if you want to compete.
Ja Morant and Trae Young are great facilitators and make others better so it does exist. But it is not as important is it used to be unless you have a team full of bums who cannot create for themselves at all I'd rather have Luka or Steph who are score first facilitators.

You could be right. I'm not a big fan of any of the free agent guards though. Personally I hope that we target a guard(s) in the draft. I've said this before, but I would try to get both Cason Wallace and Anthony Black. I think one of those will hit for sure, and could potentially play together as well.
Yeah, that would be the idea. Sign a FVV to a 3 or 4 year deal, draft a Black/Wallace and hope they take the reigns eventually.

Please no. Too short
Not a fan of small guards either, but hes the best available by a country mile (that we have a chance at signing) as far as PGs go.

Just putting two and two together given the reporting that seems to be leaning towards the Jazz want to get a starting PG and how they cleared cap space at the deadline.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why so many Raptors fans seemingly hate him. Personally I dont see the wrinkles they see, and his numbers look solid accross the board even if he has a bit of a down year from 3P this year.

Suns are talking him as the potential replacement for CP3 though... so there might be a steep price for his services.
As far as I know Raptors fans love FVV.

Suns can't afford FVV so we aren't competing with the Suns for any free agents that cost more than a nickel.

If you want FVV realize he likely signs for 4/120M… rumor has it he had turned down the Raps extension at like 4/114.

I don’t think he’s worth Brunson money at this point. Would be a really rough use of our cap imo.

They use CP in a sign and trade but wouldn’t really have much to offer in the way of a sweetener. So unless CP has value on his own it would be tough.

Orlando is the team rumored to be hanging out there for FVV. We’d have to outbid them by 5% to make the money work… I don’t see it happening but who knows.

I lean towards agreeing with you. Wouldn't be upset at it though. I think generally we want to use the space to sign talent where we can and figure it out later. The back end of his deal would be soft with the rising cap. I'm kind of cap illiterate though, so I really don't know who the Jazz would be competing with to sign him, obviously the Raptors, but I don't know who else has money out there and needs a PG.

FVV at least fits a need more than Kuzma (just to compare another gettable high priced UFA) does. He's also an advanced stats darling on an underachieving team which might suggest he can do a lot better on a better team construct.

Suns part I agree, albeit the appeal of playing in a championship contender with KD shouldnt be underestimated. But they should not have means to sign anyone. It was just reported today that they might go after him.

FVV is the #1 hate target in Raptors realgm at least. Dunno if that represents some radical wing of the fanbase though.

Oh wow, didn't realize you were using the all encompassing metric of the real GM board. Forgive me.

I get the appeal... and there is a case to be made that he might suffer more than anyone because of their lack of shooting and any semblance of a real offense.

If they made the contract decline it would be more palatable and if the numbers came in more like 4/100M then fine. I think if they can find a pgotf that you may not want a guy making that much for that long in front of them.

The draft is full of guys I think would fit well with Sexton... so I'd see how the draft plays out first. Wallace/Black are the obvious fits... but in the end of the first Colby Jones and JHS could be guys that are bigger combo/pgs that would work. Amen is another but I doubt we land top 4.

If you landed like George or NSJ then you may want to go ahead and move Collin and find a true pg that is already developed.

One type of deal I'd consider... if Washington falls in the 10-14 range see if you can trade the Minny pick (say its 18ish) and a Cavs pick in 2025 for their pick and Delon Wright or Monte Morris. Gives them some wiggle room for all the FAs they need to sign and an asset to move in another deal. After Johnny Davis I can't see them all that excited about drafting in the late lotto.
