2023 NBA Draft Megathread

He's shown more off the dribble in these last two games. His improvement from 2pt range during the season was largely due to the fact that he stopped taking mid-range jumpers. He now just shoots 3s and goes to the rim. I think realistically, Miller is in the same tier as Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore, in the 3 - 5 range, and it will depend on team need to some extent. If it were me personally, I'd want an All Star and potential #1 option, and I don't think that's what Miller is. However, I could see a team view him as a solid and safe pick who fits their team. Keegan Murray went #4 last year to Sacramento largely because the Kings were heavily invested in Fox and didn't want to spend a #4 pick on Jaden Ivey.

The argument for Miller going #2 in draft talk really stemmed from the fact that Detroit was sitting at #2 in most mocks, and they've already invested top-5 picks in Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey. So then the question is whether the Pistons would draft another guy like Scoot or Amen who really needs the ball in his hands. Miller makes a lot of sense for the Pistons, like Murray made sense for the Kings.

I think the general consensus is probably that Victor, Scoot and Amen are still the top 3 NBA prospects. However a team that already has a strong lead guard might not want to spend a top-3 pick on another guard. At the same time, I think there are going to be teams that would take Cam Whitmore ahead of Miller, since Whitmore is a prototypical power wing with clear mismatch and All Star potential.
Yeah, i get the logic. I don't believe Whitmore is that far behind Miller but is behind him right now for most orgs. I do think Jarace could be ahead of both Amen and Miller for a few teams.
Miller is also not out of the woods at all yet as far as civil court cases, he will have to deal with, based on the mindset of the shooting victims fam comments. I do think history has proven those types of immaturity concerns kill draft stock. In the end it may benefit us for him to slide, even though its unlikely he slides to wherever we are.
In the end Walker and Whitmore have the same or better upside, but Miller clearly has shown more of a floor so far in his one season in college, for whatever that is worth.
I would be happy with any of these top 5 wings or guards yet we are not getting any of them if we win more than 3 more games

Calling Miller a likely top-5 pick along with Amen and Cam Whitmore isn't hating, bruh. Keegan Murray had as much impact and better numbers just about across the board last year.
That fact that you have Whitmore in the same category as Miller is bizarre to me. I would be shocked if a team viewed Whitmore as the better prospect right now.

He is talking about archetype and style of play fitting superstar types. Whitmore has a lot of that upside especially iso ability, and it doesn't mean Miller doesn't, but Miller doesn't show elite ball skills or iso ability at Bama if he does have it, not when he is the recipient of so much catch and shoot usage.

As an NBA prospect, that's not bizarre. Miller is a good college player, but NBA speed and physicality are different.

These are Nic Batum highlights from 10 years ago. I can assure you that comparing Brandon Miller to Nic Batum isn't meant to be an insult.

Are we sleeping on Whitehead? 42% from 3 and 89% from the line. But also 40% from 2 and 50% at the rim which is almost unbelievably horrible. What’s funny is that his predraft would probably question the jumper more than his athleticism.

I know he has the foot thing, and apparently Duke has the worst spacing of all time from the Flip fans. If we’re giving Flip a pass for being bad at the rim, why not Whithead too?

Not saying I’m totally on board with Whithead….but his shooting numbers deserve some attention.

I like Whitehead too. Would definitely take him with the Philadelphia first.

There are a lot of similarities between he and Reddish as a prospect. Reddish has obviously had an up and down career, but he still radiates some potential where you think…..right team/situation/attitude/health and he could be really good. Feel the same about Whitehead. Definitely worth a late first round flier. Unsure about a mid first rounder though.
