It been a long time, but i thought i read or heard that they really liked giannis and had him rated very high, but corbin insisted he needed a guard and they did rank trey very high as well. I always had the impression giannis was their highestest rated prospect, but they needed a guard. Ever since that draft ive alway thought best player over need every time.

My recollection is that the Jazz liked Kelly Olynyk in their draft range, but they heard through the grapevine that Boston was planning to trade up with Dallas to take him. Maybe they'd have taken Giannis if they stayed at $14 and Olynyk was off the board. I think the Jazz would have traded up with Minnesota regardless.

it works in favor of stubborn stat heads who micro manage scouting departments more than it works to their disadvantage -so yeah you really need to have a solid scouting department who can convince owners to take risks like Giannis who had all the tools and the generational potential if he figured it all out. I am pretty certain DA has this under control. we aint picking for need unless that prospect is the bpa
The thing that worries me about Black is that his misses from 3 look pretty bad.
I want to like him so bad because I love his size at the point guard position, but every time I watch him I come away underwhelmed. His shooting is a concern.
My information wasn't public knowledge as far as I know. I received it from someone that was in upper management with the LHM group at the time.
Yeah....he has zero indicators of developing a shot. Percentages are bad, form is bad, attempts are low, and like you said the misses miss by a lot. If it turns out he can shoot, there was nothing he did in college that was a good reason to believe that.....and if he can't we will look back and say it was obvious. I had this thought awhile ago, but I feel like the most interesting about Anthony Black is that he's 6'7 a PG....but he doesn't really have the skills of a PG. If you look at him as a 6'7 defensive wing and not a PG, which is probably where his skill level is at right now, is he really that exciting? He is not a Lonzo or Giddey where he's a wing sized player with high level PG skills. He's a wing sized guy with (maybe) above average ball skills for a wing but below average compared to other PGs and ball handlers.
I don't want to be too reactive to some bad tourney games and I still very much believe in his defense (he has 3 STL and 1 BLK already btw), but it's really feeling like there's a big gap between the idea of Anthony Black as a prospect and the reality of Anthony Black.
Yea I do fear he will be drafted by us. I'm not impressed at all.
