2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Criticize away. I put so little stock into tourney performances.

I like ya man, I just don’t buy for a second you’re being intellectually honest about Miller.

I form opinions on players usually very quickly and rarely change them. I think Miller is a half step slow and isn't explosive enough to be a #1 option on offense. Can he be a #2 or #3 guy who plays off the ball, shoots off the catch and makes solid contributions? Sure.

Here are the last 10 RSCI #1 ranked recruits and where they ended up being drafted:

Dariq Whitehead (?)
Chet Holmgren (2)
Cade Cunningham (1)
James Wiseman (2)
RJ Barrett (3)
Marvin Bagley (2)
Josh Jackson (4)
Ben Simmons (1)
Jahlil Okafor (3)
Andrew Wiggins (1)

Is that list supposed to be...unimpressive or something? If anything it shows that teams like to draft top-rated RSCI prospects at the top of the lottery. Wiggins and Simmons made All Star teams. Okafor and Jackson busted for different reasons--Okafor didn't fit in the modern game and Jackson was a pothead who didn't learn to shoot. Bagley and Wiseman are trying to find themselves in Detroit. Barrett is a decent role player. Cade and Chet have had injury issues. Jury is out on Whitehead.

I’m sure there are examples of bad tourney runs still having good nba careers. We know Trey Burke had a good tournament but went on to be a **** show in the NBA

RSCI ranked Dillon Mitchell as the 5th best freshman and he might not even be in the top 200 so I don't trust HS rankings really

I'm not sure Danny looks at the HS rankings or he just likes the traits that give good HS rankings, but he does seem to have some kind of bias/leaning towards blue chip guys. If a guy was somewhat disappointing in college it doesn't seem to bother him.

He drafted RJ Hunter.
