THT was pretty good last night. Good assist numbers, got to the line a ton (13 free throws!) wasn't efficient but still another game where his numbers were pretty good.

Reading through this thread there is a ton of posts about how much the refs favored the lakers last night. looking at the box score however im seeing that THT had the most free throws of anyone in the game and the lakers only attempted 4 more free throws than the jazz. (both teams shot exactly 77% from the line)
I would expect the disparity to be much much worse since the jazz play in utah and the lakers are the lakers plus the jazz had zero star power in the game and the lakers had AD and Lebron out there.

It would be refreshing to sell high for once.
We sold so high last summer we may owe Cosmic Karma about a hundred years of **** going forward, off-set of course by the nearly 50 years of **** this team already put up with, so we may be within 50 years of our first championship! :D

From what I saw in the game it wasn't as much about gifting free throws as controlling the flow of the game and ensuring key turn-around points went the Lakers way, impfho.

Of course I am a died in the wool NBA conspiracist. Not quite on the order of Kyrie "The Kook" Irving though.

It was one of those where we played so hard and so well it would have been blatantly obvious if the refs just threw it entirely the Lakers' way, so they did the little things to help them win, you know, like a good 6th man is supposed to do.

Look, the Jazz got a damn haul, no doubt. It would be hard to top. But Gobert certainly not at peak value and I don’t believe that was the case with Mitchell either.

All I will say... is last night's crew was bad. I am not sure we were favored, but there were just some horrible calls. I think all of them are related to Boler and have his poor eyesight.

Then I do not know how you define value since both of those trades were considered precedent-setting by fans and pundits alike for the history of the game. The ultimate example of "sell high".

Look, it is hard to call an NBA game when you are frantically googling college football to prep for your fantasy teams this year. Give the guy a break.

THT is in an interesting spot. If he plays out his player option and he really shows improvement over a long period I could see him getting like 15-20M per year after this year. Right now I bet he could opt out and find a 3/36m somewhere with a team option on the last year... so like 12-13M in new guaranteed money. I bet he opts in but has a unique bet on himself opportunity.

Either way he is not a negative contract at this point and that's all I care about. Consider this @Saint Cy of JFC 's prophesy fulfilled that I now like THT. Merry Christmas big guy.

Agreed. Gobert we definitely sold high on. Minnesota often seems to be better without him. Haul was huge. He is getting older.
Donovan still might get better but I still dont see how we can do much better in a trade when we receive an all nba level player, a very very good rookie who looks to be a lock to be a starter for a long time, and another player who is also starter level. Plus a bunch of picks. I mean we might have gotten 3 all stars and a bunch of picks for donovan (I think sexton and ochai both have the potential to make an all star team.)

Both trades were phenomenal

You’re not wrong. Maybe he’ll figure it out, but after reading Sarah Todd’s piece about his lack of self awareness and watching him play the last few weeks, I don't think he will. I bet Ainge tries to sell high on him

I had missed that article but just went back and read it. Thanks for the reference. A bit disappointing, actually, if it's accurate. But it does seem consistent. THT does continue to do THT things -- both good and bad.

I’m gonna need a real season to sign-off on a serious commitment (him playing in a consistent and contributing role on a good team), but my mind is open to the possibility. The bar isn’t even necessarily that high, he just needs to show he can contribute if he’s off-ball (shooting 3s well on low-volume) since he seems to rely so much off of having the ball in his hands, rhythm, and volume.

However, if he opts out this off-season, I would probably just let him walk.

He has an interesting off-season ahead, both in the gym and in the office or whatever.

THT would probably have serious value to a team with a weak bench, regardless. I just don’t think depth is going to be a problem for the Jazz.

It will be interesting to see if he opts out. The article from Sarah Todd seems to indicate he won't be. I tend to agree that he probably wouldn't as I'm not sure he's been consistent enough for a team to give him a big deal. I would guess that he will be very interested in what role the Jazz would be giving him next year. If he's not going to have a guaranteed role he might opt out just to be in a situation where he can showcase what he can do for a bigger eventual pay day.

Does anybody know when his opt out date is?

A google search tells me the day before free agency begins and mentions June 29. But I don’t know for sure if that is this year’s date or was last year’s.

Is Damian Jones a long term piece?

Maybe deserve it's own thread, but probably not. He looks young, but is 27 years old and 7 year vet. I believe we have him for another year, are we comfortable going in to next year with him as our backup C?
