2023 NBA Draft Megathread

What is functional athleticism? Is that Joe Ingles in transition? If he gets the job done and beats people we don't care if he is the fastest?

Functional athleticism is your ability to apply your athletic ability on the basketball court. It's why you just cant stick an elite athlete on a basketball court and have them automatically be good at basketball.

Acceleration, deacceleration, hand-eye coordination, reaction speed, first step, foot work, catching ability, strength, ability to absorb contact, balance, change of pace, etc.

There's a ton of factors that go into athletic ability that are more than just a max vert and 40 yard dash.

No Ceilings drafted Bilal at 14 on their latest mock draft. (Drafted Brice at 9 for the Jazz)

One of the dudes said he's 12 on his personal board. Another said he was 15.

Locke is using a player's ability to finish at the rim as an indicator of athleticism.
I would use a players ability to finish at the rim to indicate how good they are at finishing at the rim but thats just me.

I thought we hated Brice?
I think I'm neutral on him. He's a pretty safe pick IMO in that I think his scoring is going to translate pretty easily. The No Ceilings dudes do bring up a good point that it's pretty rare to have a freshman who is both an elite scorer and an elite shooter at a young age.

He does seem to have some knee concerns though as I read that he had a knee injury that made him miss his entire junior season with multiple surgeries and he missed the end of hte season with a knee injury this year.
