2023 NBA Draft Megathread

would it make sense to trade 16 and 28 to Brooklyn for 21 and 22? would Brooklyn do that that? various mocks have the following players available at 21:

GG
Leonard Miller
Sidy
Rupert
Bufkin
Hawkins
Sensabaugh
Podz
Bilal

All these are guys who many of us have in the conversation at 16. Granted they won't all be there at 21, but many of them will be just based on the numbers game. could be a situation where Ainge waits until the 16th pick comes up and depending on what his board looks like and who is available, maybe he gives brooklyn a call.
Great question. If the consensus top-11 are gone, as are Keyonte, Bufkin, GG, and Hawkins, then yes.

Leonard Miller needs to be mentioned there imo. I'd pull GG out of that equation but okay. I'd stay at 16 and use a minor asset to parlay 28 into a pick in the early 20s. I also think Miami, GS, Atlanta, are all opportunities to move up.

There are an infinite number of near-term outcomes to target, but I think a great one would be to turn #16 and stuff into #10 and #28 and stuff into a pick in the late teens.

I'm not excited to trade him, but IMO you have to consider it. There is difference between a star and a superstar. I guess it will depend on how certain you are that Scoot or Miller will be that...
First of all you dont have to consider it... unless someone calls you first with a stupid offer. You dont just casually shop around guys of his level unless you actually want him out.

Secondly you are putting a cap on Lauri based on his breakout year and seem to think Scoot's ceiling is somehow guaranteed to be higher than Lauri's proven level and that cap you just set way prematurely.

I think Ainge should try to get the 11th/12th pick. OKC is going to swing for the fences and the Jazz might want to try to get that player.

Continuing my exploration of the draft prospects by just watching highlights for now:
11. Kobe Bufkin - guard... OK height... looks a bit slight... has good speed and quickness to the rim, good skill level and handle(saw him split doubles a few times), floaters look good, shot looks really good both on the catch and off the dribble. I didn't see much creation for others... and his stats don't suggest he's a great passer. Is he a combo? He kind of looks a bit like a 6th man type to me... from highlights at least. How's his defense? I guess if he's a good defender maybe he can be a starter... probably need to see full games of his to get better feel about him
12. Gradey Dick - wing... ok athlete, nothing special... has some nice skill... attacks close out... step through move... finishes well in transition... good touch at the rim? Good creativity attacking the rim. Shooter! Form looks beautiful... and stats suggest it's falling too... is he the best shooter in the draft? Can't make out his feel for the game from the highlight I watched... or his defense? Not much creation for teammates... not much advanced self-creation, but has some step back 3s...
13. Leonard Miller - big forward with length... good athlete, explosive with space... looks a bit ... stiff and upright? Shot looks... weird... a bit like Jaren Jackson's but doesn't seem to be falling as much. Still the numbers are not horrible. Secondary rim protector potential with his length? Doesn't look like he has much on-ball skill...?
14. Dereck Lively Jr.... center? eh... OK, What's the appeal here? Defense? Looks very ordinary... I don't think I'd take him with ANY of our 1st round picks... No idea why he's ranked here.
15. Brice Sensabaugh - wing... chunky... good, not great athlete... but offensively skilled... good handle creates separation on jumpers... seems like a scorer... interesting. The shot looks good... and the stats suggest it's falling... How's his defense? Not much passing in his highlights... but he scores in variety of ways... gets to his spots and scores...

That's it for today... 5 more tomorrow from me... What did I get wrong?

Guards like Wallace, George, Bufkin and Hood-Schifino all available outside the top 10 would seem like an anomaly in most drafts. Some people may still like Nick Smith Jr. too.

A few mocks now have the Pacers taking Hendricks with the 7th pick it’s becoming a consensus.

That hope is disappearing fast.. *sad face*

I think Hendricks is in play for Orlando. He can play a stretch-5, play the 4 if Paolo is out, or play at 3 in a big lineup with Wagner at the 2. Magic would move on from Jonathan Isaac.

Toronto probably has what it takes to trade with Portland for the #3 pick. A deal around Siakam/Poeltl might get it done. That would mean that Toronto is shifting to get younger.

Imagine a whole new generation of kids growing up with this poster on their wall...
