2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Yardbraker has GG at 28on their draft
Supposedly his workout sucked... but rumors were he was also sick. Make of it what you will... it is silly season.

And the best case scenario is that the Lakers tank and actually try to get the pick to fall in the protections... because it leaves us with at worst a 50% shot at the 5th pick. If you took all of our unprotected picks we own and gave me a 50% shot its like the 5th pick and 50% shot its like the 33rd pick... I'd love that.

On the other hand with the flattened odds, if the Lakers are a lower end lotter team that year, there will be a better chance they get a top 4 pick than in the past. Then you have the worries about the NBA conspiracy for the Lakers and against the Jazz to get them a top 4 pick no matter where they end up.

Even that gives us like an 80% chance at a good lotto pick. I don’t buy the conspiracies on the draft… even though they are fun.

Because of the protections on the pick I think that one has more value in holding it until 2027. Think it has more value in our hand than in a trade. If someone values it more than the Cavs or Minny pick then by all means move it but just guessing the certainty of unprotected picks is better in trades.

Someone was complaining that the pace of GG's Pro Day workout wasn't as fast as some of the others. Like he was just on cruise control. GG looked good at the Combine though -- 37" vert, 3.21 3/4 court sprint, 214 lbs. He's not out of shape. I think someone is blowing smoke, same as that article which said Brandon Miller was out of shape and did poorly in interviews.

GG's interviews are more important than anything else he does in the predraft process.

Not to feed conspiracies, but San Antonio was reportedly Wembanyama's preferred destination, while both Charlotte and Portland are franchises that are up for sale and need to solidify their valuations. That said, those teams were also in the bottom five recordwise, so it doesn't look like an anomaly.

Here's the GG thing. I thought he looked good in his Pro Day, tbh. Overall, he measured well, tested well and shot the ball well at the Combine. If he interviewed well enough, then his stock should be going up.

It’s hard to disappoint at a pro day… fair or not GG found a way… at least for a couple of guys to be disappointed.

It also could be some guys just seeing what they want. I don’t think this is a reason his stock should fall… and if his stock has fallen this isn’t the reason.

A lot of pro days disappoint, you just don't hear about them.
