Mock Draft Take 4

We aren’t trading 16 + Sexton for 10 + Bertans. I wanted to see which two guys we could end up with by trading up twice. Pretty interesting. Washington at 8 is a very important pick for us.
The assumption many here had that Washington would definitely not take Hendricks was surprising to me. Basically saying if he doesn't go top 7 he'd be there for us. Not sure I agree but I would be happy about it. If we get a totally out of nowhere pick, or Black, in the top 8 things get really interesting. If it just goes chalk... Oh well, I'm fine with Black or Wallace I guess.

The ideal scenario is Walker, Hendricks, or Ausar drop. And then we can maneuver up for Wallace using 16.

I get it, for the sake of the game it's fine.

I'm not sure you can take much from this exercise though. At best these are all just educated guesses. The nice thing is, that our front office will have actual intel, and I think DA, might be really good at reading the tea leaves.

This draft could have been pretty ideal for the Jazz if they had taken Cason over Black. I think he just has more shooting potential and both are dogs defensively. Adding Cason/Ausar’s defensive upside to Lauri and Kessler is an amazing formula. Then move KO and 28 for 15 and John Collins… take Leonard Miller at 15… IDK it feels like there should be some serious opportunities for DA and JZ

The perimeter defense with Cason, Ochai and Ausar is legit. Same with Black, but with Cason the floor spacing should be workable on offense. Ausar is also a secondary playmaker, which is nice.

The Jazz can stay where they are in the draft, take BPA and do pretty well. If I were the Jazz, I wouldn't trade up from 9 unless I know I'm getting Cam Whitmore or Jarace Walker, and that assumes the Jazz really think Walker is that guy. If Houston puts #4 on the market, I might make that move even if the price is high.

I still think it might be worth combining 16 and 28 to move up to 13 or 14 in order to secure one of the players in the late lottery the Jazz want, whether that's Bufkin, George, Bilal or Dick. I'm a believer in Bilal becoming like a third Thompson twin from this draft within a couple years, and I think both George and Bufkin could be impact players.

This.
Could cam be added to the list with those other 3? Or is he a certainty to be gone by 9?

From a Jazz standpoint, I think I would have preferred to have Keyonte and Dick at 16 and 9 vs who we traded up for (Ausar and Black).

The shooting, spacing and ball movement would be great in that scenario. It all depends on the type of team the Jazz envision. I would take Bufkin as a substitute for George too.

To succeed in the playoffs, teams need to be able to rattle off 3s from all over the floor.

I mostly agree, but say the jazz want Ausar and he falls a bit. It wouldn’t take much to move from 9 to 6-7 to grab him. I don’t even think you need to trade 16 or 28

ORL and IND may not be willing to move their pick. Jazz need to find a team that's willing to trade back. That isn't easy to find.
