Starting PG?

I would, can't deny that his playoffs was disappointing though. I would try to capitalize on it rather than being spooked by it personally.

I bet we could get him for a lot cheaper than 25M per year though.

Luka Doncic. As soon as he asks out, DA is going to roll out the red carpet AND back the Brinks truck up to Mark Cuban’s house.

Ainge has built a solid team for right now. Any moves he makes moving forward will be geared around keeping enough flexibility to add a star player when the moment comes.

IDK, maybe $20 M.....but if it costs a little more annual to get it done you do it. Upping the money helps convince Quickley and puts more pressure on NYK to cave.

I believe all rookie extensions can go out 5 years now... I'd say 5/100-120 is fair and doable. You could also make it descend and be quite tradeable/cap friendly.

So a deal could start at 27M a year and end at 19M a year in 5 years when the cap is 50% higher. Between that and renegotiate and extending Lauri and maybe JC if they want to get fancy could set us up pretty well capwise.

I didn't read the entire thread. So is anyone seriously thinking Keyonte can be the starting PG? I saw some convo about that somewhere. He didn't do any play-making in college, did he? Why would we want to be pounding square pegs into round holes. Is DL secretly spreading this stuff around?

Here is the deal... if Keyonte is a good starting pg... the absolute fastest that happens is like 2 years right? More likely its 2+ years. I just don't know that you bank on that happening real fast. Don't want to bury him but if he is competent as a solid backup for 15-20 minutes a night I will be happily surprised. It is more likely he is okay and shows flashes... then likely becomes solid as a backup in year 2... then there is another jump to take.

No need to wait while you have space and cheap players... assuming the right opportunity pops up.
