Coronavirus

Dude, you have a vaccine related post IN THIS THREAD. Simple politeness. Lol
1) I responded to something said by Stockton directly.;
2) I responded before anyone asked that the discussion be moved.

Yeah, simple politeness. Apparently you find the concept funny. That speaks poorly for you.

I'm so worn out on this stuff. I'm honestly somewhat in the YOLO let's just let this **** run its course camp, but that's just an emotional response.

Round 2 anyone? After going through it the first time, would you do anything differently now?
Even N95 masks have been ineffective at blocking COVID since Delta variant. With the original COVID they weren't great but at least the effectiveness was measurable. Then the first variants started to pop up and the measured effectiveness was cut in half, causing the whole double masking crusade. By Delta and after, all paper masks did was signal what team you are on. Going in to the election, some are going to wear their Trump shirts and others are going to wear their masks. I'll let people do what people do, but I'm against either mandates for Trump shirts or mandates for COVID masks.

You don't wear a paper/surgical mask to "block" a virus. You wear them to interfere with your own respiratory jets, in case you are infected but symptom-free. It is much easier to catch covid from the flow of an infected person than it is from the atmosphere generally. Wearing a mask is a service, not a shield.

I expect there will be a vaccine for this strain within a couple of months.

For now I'm not too worried about it. I will continue to listen to the recommendations of experts who spend their lives studying virus and discuss it with my doctor if I feel the need to. I will also wear a mask if I am sick or worried about getting sick.

Why would there be a mandate for trump shirts?

I'm waiting for the captain trips version of this thing. Let's go already!

y'all should be gettin some of that there Ivermectin now that the FDA says doctors can prescribe it for Covid lol

As one of the elderly ill, I often wore masks long before Covid to protect my lungs from outdoor winter air. I will also wear them indoors when I feel it is necessary. A common cold leaves me very ill for weeks, and I will do whatever I can to avoid that. If it protects me a little from Covid and the flu, so much the better.

I will be having a covid vaccine when I have my flu shot. Maybe even the RSV vaccine.

Wearing a mask is neither a service nor a shield. There has been no measurable benefit since Delta. Environments with mandated universal masking and comparable environments where no one masks have identical transmission rates. With regards to modern variants of COVID, it is a virtue signal only. It offers the same amount of protection against COVID transmission as a yard sign that reads "In this house, we believe: Black Lives Matter, Science is Real, Love is Love..."
