Kanter player comparsions and thoughts on his likely progression

He's looking like an excellent rebounder , with good hustle and energy on defense, with decent offensive skills and potential.
Since he isn't super athletic, opposing players are going to say he is fouling or cheating or dirty when he outplays them, and this could be his chilles.

Couple of general points to suggestions that have been made in this thread.

~ Kanter does, in fact, have a lower confidence in his shot right now. Having said that, it's not in his shot, per se, but rather in the level of competition he's playing against .. for the first time. He's a little overwhelmed in how much more quickly a defender closes out and their athletic ability, compared to that of his prior experience. To be clear, he has confidence in his shot and has confidence he'll get it together against this level of competition, but understands it's an adjustment. He admits that right now he's over-thinking things rather than just playing within the flow of the game. He was used to thinking, "no one can stop me", but is now thinking, "how can I not get my **** blocked.

~ He is anything but low bb IQ (offensively) .. he just appears that way at times because of what was stated above. Also, he was used to be asked to score the ball, go strong, score or FT's. Now he's having to get used, for the first time ever, to be a complimentary player on offense. Doesn't mind the role, at all, but learning it.

Was he ever a good pick n roll player from what you have seen? It seems like the few times he has tried to do it with some of the Jazz ball handlers he has been terrible in both the pick setting and the rolling to the basket portions of the play.

Not that I saw. Was never really ran. He thrived on putbacks, obviously, and excelled in iso moves on the baseline and out to about 18'. He'd hit the occassional 3 but it wasn't his thing. He was deadly in the 14' - 16' baseline turnaround. As I've said in other threads, he needs about 10' of room to operate. He's more offensively comfortable as a face-up PF and on putbacks.
