Was listening to the Athletic pod and one guy mentioned how Jrue at the point of attack is what makes Brook so effective as a rim protector. Being able to drop because the point of attack guy makes the ball handler take bad angles and is up in the guy is the thing that unlocks drop bigs.
Bro, if you have a rim protector then you don’t need point of attack. Filter all your guys into your rim protector or let them get comfortable having open looks. Force them into low percentage shots, like wide open jumpers. This is just basketball 101 and a reason why your expertise is relegated to message boards and not in front offices or on the court.

Speaking of Millsap and Matthews, the approach to those screwed us in the way those contracts were structured and the fact that we didn’t indicate to our own guys that we valued them. This approach was a KOC staple, and I fully believe that DL’s management of Hayward’s restricted free agency is a leftover of the KOC “wisdom” that, once again, spectacularly backfired. And these are the guys who ran the regime for 25ish years. “Experts.”

Also, the whole premise and rationalization for Millsap, Matthews and Hayward negotiation was “never bid against yourself.” That strategy is also on a hot streak with Riley and the Knicks not “bidding against themselves.”

Something like this... maybe cut out the Mavs and just have Buddy in Portland as trade bait at the deadline.
