The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

SA is not a good team. They have few young promising players and a good one Wemby. Ginobli and TP speak together on a talk show and both saying will need 3 to 4 years before thay can be contender.Which make sense for me.

Nah bro they are contending this year. They will have at least two titles before his rookie deal is over.

The Wemby situation shows the cold, hard truth of full-on tanking. The losing doesn't stop for years even if you do hit the jackpot. I mean, this is a true generational talent and the Spurs are just terrible with him.

OKC have been patient many years getting picks until they finally got a team they can build on to compete. They are probably one piece away to be a contender now.
SA will have to be patient or agressive on the market. Wemby is unique but he can't do all . MJ, Kobe, have to wait to have good players around them to win.

Not to mention that Cleveland couldnt even build a contending roster around Lebron while he was there... had to leave, see the Cavs tank and then return when they had the pieces.

SA has a lot of mid talent but not a lot of winning players unless there are real leaps coming.

The way Cason is playing right now he looks like pure 3&D off ball wing. I think he lacks size to play that role at an elite level, but right now he is making the most of it. In OKC I don't think he will get to handle the ball that much with Giddey and SGA being very ball needy.

So in the long run if George hits his full potential Cason doesnt really stand a chance in comparison unless OKC sends out Giddey and gives Cason the ball more.

OKC will move Giddey

The problem is that you can't count on Wemby's longevity. Something like four NBA years is a long time for a guy built like him.

If you have Wemby playing 60 to 80 games per losing season until you finally find him some real co-stars, you're pretty much wasting a unique player who's injury prone as it is.

SA will be fine. They got some dudes and will have space to do some stuff. Pop is messing with some stuff and they will slow play it. It’s just funny some thought it would happen overnight and that ain’t how it works.

I wish the jazz had that "cold hard truth"
Okc got to experience the cold hard truth too. I wish the jazz had the cold hard truth of either team to be honest

San Antonio is playing Sochan at PG. They are tanking the season. If they went out and got any kind of PG they would be a playoff team.

I disagree. He's 7'4" and only 19YO so he will gain muscle still. And he's not overweight which should help. He's a few degrees from being a contortionist. Has great balance and quickness. Is aware of where his feet are. Nothing to indicate he's injury prone at this point.

nah cuz back in the 90s there were tall people who got injured.

They'd have to bench Wemby. He's playing 30mpg on team-high usage but is dead last in Win Shares. He's hoisting six 3pt shots per game (again, team high) and making 28.4%. He leads the team in turnovers and averages way more TO's than assists.

And so on. People don't want to say it, but Wembanyama getting star minutes and superstar usage has been a major reason for the 8 game losing streak.

Yeah, I'm sure the Spurs don't really mind losing this season. But this is the 5th season in a row where they're not anywhere near contending, and 3rd in a row where they outright suck and tank. That's not nothing for a club like that. The SA fanbase is still in the honeymoon phase with Wemby, but if they turn out to be bottom-feeders again (and likely next year too unless they make major moves), it starts to get risky.

The Spurs really have all their eggs in one basket with Wemby.
