Trade ideas

John Collins to Milwaukee for Bobby Portis, Pat Connaughton and MarJon Beauchamp

This works salary wise and I think it is a super interesting deal.

I have been thinking about a couple of deals. What if we helped facilitate a Mitchell to Knicks trade?

We send out Collins and Cleveland’s 2025 1st.

We take back Fournier and Quickley.

Cleveland gets Barrett, DiVincenzo, their 2025 1st back and two firsts from New York.

New York gets Mitchell and Collins.

Same kind of vibe as this one but with Brooklyn instead:

Jazz out: John Collins

Jazz in: Spencer Dinwiddie

Cavaliers out: Donovan Mitchell

Cavaliers in: Cam Johnson, Cam Thomas, multiple firsts

Nets out: Cam Johnson, Spencer Dinwiddie, Cam Thomas, multiple firsts

Nets in: Donovan Mitchell and John Collins

John Collins and Jordan Clarkson to Philadelphia for Tobias Harris, Furkan Korkmaz and a 2028 first round pick swap

Not sure how realistic this one is but I would do it.

The Knicks need big man depth badly:

John Collins and Cleveland’s 2025 first for Evan Fournier and Immanuel Quickley

John Collins to Indiana for Buddy Hield

John Collins to Dallas for Tim Hardaway Jr and salary filler

John Collins to Sacramento for Harrison Barnes and salary filler

I would do all of these and I could see one of them doing it.

Seems like you have been one of his biggest proponents this year, and now you are anxious to offload him?

I definitely was. My thoughts have changed on the deal though. He doesn’t fit well with Lauri and Kessler. He’s way too expensive to be bringing off the bench. His contract isn’t very good. I’d rather see his playing time go to Hendricks, etc.

Did I say for sure any team is going to accept any of these deals? The whole idea for the thread is "trade ideas". Feel free to throw some out if you think you could do better.

I think the point is to post trade ideas that other teams might actually consider lol. If you actually think those are legitimate trade ideas, you're are grossly overestimating his value. I've said my piece about a John Collins trade. He's is a major negative asset at this moment. Only way he's getting traded is if we try to salary dump him or trade him for other undesirable salary. Jazz made a big mistake with the trade and will have to live with it, pay to get rid of it, or find other bad salary to live with.

Also, Collins doesn't play any defense. Looking at his advanced defensive metrics he's been atrocious this year. When we traded for him i thought he could be at least net neutral defensively but he's not even close to that at the moment.

Ok, we will see what happens. In a September podcast Zach Lowe said Milwaukee kicked the tires on a Collins trade before we pulled the trigger. His value might not be as bad as we think. I don’t think his play has lowered his value since we traded for him. If anything the way he is shooting the ball might convince someone to take a chance on him.

Even if his value has not dropped (it obviously has which is why we're looking to move him in the first place), he was traded for Rudy Gay and a bad second pick. At that "neutral" value these trades are still incredibly Jazz favored. Ain't no way we're trading Rudy Gay and a bad second round pick for any of those players. We only got Collins because ATL wanted to get rid of him, and now we want to get rid of him.

I don't think the Jazz are going to trade any Cleveland picks right now. If Mitchell doesn't tell the Cavs he'll extend with them, they'll have to move him. They might be a play-in team even if they don't.

Atlanta also got salary relief so if you want to use what he was traded for as his value make sure to add that in. Why would his value have dropped? One less year on his contract and he’s putting up better numbers across the board and especially at 3PT% compared to last year.

Could be enticing to Cleveland to get that first back and is a way we could sneak in to get a very nice asset i.e. Quickley.

That's kind of the point, Collins is a terrible unwanted salary. You get value in getting rid of him, not trading for him. It is obvious why his value has dropped. His numbers are not better across the board. His metrics are awful this year and the worst in his entire career, particularly his defense. In addition to that, he is significantly worse at his worse attribute which is scoring around the basket. His 2FG% has dropped off a cliff which has resulted in his career worst scoring efficiency.

TLDR: His value has dropped because he's is having arguably his worst season of his entire career.

IQ available "for the right price" according to Michael Scotto. Jake Fisher says there is no buzz around him at this point, but didnt refute the report.

Not gonna be a buy low thing, but are we really even interested anymore? I mean its good to have multiple baskets for the eggs, but is there any hope that IQ and George become a good pair, or would it just be survivor of the fittest?

You've seen the light.
