2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Then we are already forgetting how ****ing good he was. Wasn’t even prime LeBron in 07 when he dragged the Cavs to the finals.

Prime LeBron and Lauri on the same team is a contender. Full stop

As an offensive pairing with Lebron, Lauri fits better than Davis, imo. Better shooter, better range.

So one thing that turned me on Edey a bit is the screen setting. I think it was Vecenie or KOC or someone talked about his improvement as a screener. If he can combine the post stuff with some screens that get guards some separation he could cause some additional havoc. If you are switching he should be able to eat or command attention. The passing will need to be good. I wonder if he can be pre-shooting Brook Lopez. I also wonder if he can shoot a little but I don't think that is the swing skill.

I think he might be a guy that gets 10 minutes one night and 25 minutes another night depending on matchup. He might be a guy who causes issues in some playoff series and is unplayable in others. In most drafts i think he should be a guy taken in the 20s (that is where I think you get some value taking the right kind of big prospects). In this draft I think end of lottery is okay... it wouldn't be my preference but I'd understand it.

Part of me also wonders if this whole defensive revolution that some want would benefit guys like Edey. I wouldn't base draft decisions on that and I think that the "offensive problem" is overstated... but if they went to a 4 second defensive rule it would benefit drop bigs.

I think he will be excellent in the roll/cut stuff as well as on the glass. That alone can be worth a lot....but to take it to the next level he will need some kind of ball handling/passing. I'm not too optimistic about his shooting and I think that's what separates him from a young Brook. NBA players are really good at keeping guys off the block and pushing them away. I don't think Edey will get the same low post position in the NBA. We'll have to see if he can adjust. Defensively, I'm also concerned. I think the movement stuff might be a little overblown, but at the same time, I'm not too impressed by his rim protection.

I'd agree that he's probably a guy that goes in the 20's in most drafts, maybe higher if a team loves him. But in this draft I could easily see him being a lottery pick.

Well, sure, but a 32nd pick is ~FRP. A random 2nd is stuff DA has for breakfast.
Yeah I think a couple seconds and the pick protections (the main event) is fair. The pick protections don't make me super nervous but it improves the asset tremendously for trade value.

I think one of the 27/32nd pick gets moved. Could be this or another deal. They may have an international guy they like but I just don't see us bringing in 3 rookies to camp unless we LOVE them... and not sure we find that many guys we love.

I have him in the exact wrong spot on my draft board and can't decide if I should move him up or down. I have him at 17ish... which if he hits and is awesome you can't really say you loved him. If he sucks and can't play then I should have had him in the 20s or 30s. I'm in a no win situation and will pick a side soon.

Lauri is pretty damn close to a perfect Robin to LeBron. Especially prime Bron.

Throw in Kessler and some other decent pieces, of course that is a top team.
Yeah... we were a .500 team for a while when we were trying. Add prime Lebron to that and it checks all the boxes we missed. We'd be title favorites.

I think Buzelis is a smart pick. A big, long player who can make reads and passes at the top of the key really opens up the floor, and I think Buzelis can probably do this from the 3 spot. I didn't like Buzelis when I thought he had to guard 4s, but as a wing he becomes interesting.
4s barely even exist....
