2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Ja Morant is 6'2" and 170 lbs. He's probably longer than Dillingham, and he's a vertical athlete, but if you really think the talent level is there then the size doesn't mean quite that much.

That said, I could see the Jazz being reluctant to take Dilly, due to wanting more length and versatility.

I think this should be our guy. All he needs to do is tighten his handle, add strength and rep out his shot off a few actions to have a real impact. Those are things that NBA players work on all day everyday. Nearly everything Cody shows in these highlights should translate to the NBA. I have him and Topic as the two best prospects, and I'm not sure the Jazz will want someone to be as ball dominant as Topic. I like Sarr too, but he's not going to slip out of the top 3 picks.

Just can't imagine him being on the board at 8/9.

Cody Williams is a ways off from being an NBA player. He played with no passion at Colorado and was the fourth option on that team. He will be a g leager for most of next year.

Morant is more than a vertical athlete. He's an all around athletic monster.

He did play weakz but the talent is there and supposedly there. Got to decide if the underwhelming numbers were due to the injury. Also got to realize these guys lost a big developmental year when they were 15 to COVID.

I'm skeptical of Cody because the REBS/AST/STOCKS are so low...but I get what people see in him. His ability to get to the basket, finish, and get to the FT line is pretty dang good.

Some people here are simultaneously wanting to trade Lauri away and get some of these small guards. Who the hell are all those guys passing the ball to or playing a 2-man game with to develop those two critical aspects of their game? Go try and develop your passing game in your pickup runs when you got no one to pass to who can catch the pass or finish the plays. See how that goes.

Also those who are slobbering hard for Dilly, tell me your vision on how he would look like playing against the Wolves or the Nuggets? Or trying to drive to the paint with Wemby or Chet in there? Thats the future of the western conference they will be playing in.

Besides, undersized guards are the one thing you can still get from the FA market (see FVV and Brunson) or cheaply through trades (see Tre Mann and Bones Hyland). The whole argument that we can only find good players through draft doesnt apply to that archtype.

I don't think anyone is slobbering hard for Dilly, they are just trying to argue against my point because they want to ignore the reality that size is very important

Not slobbering for the guy but let’s say he’s roughly as effective as Maxey in the pros. We giving DA a pass for not taking him at 8 to select Cody Williams if Cody turns out to be Tony Snell?

We can’t just go get Brunson or FVV. Mann and Hyland suck. I get what you are trying to say here… small guards are somewhat abundant. So are wings with a good frame that aren’t good at basketball. So while I’d rather take Castle or a guy with that kind of build that I think can play… the FO has to determine they in fact can play. Rob has demonstrated he can be an offensive force. It may not all translate but we can’t take him and Reed off our board because of physical stature. The kings took Tyrese Evans over Steph Curry because Tyrese overwhelmed him in a one on one workout. You don’t want to overlook tremendous talent based on one factor. That’s all.
